I co-host the Straight Up Sabres podcast, watch a lot of movies, root for a collection of disappointing sports teams, write occasionally, and apparently use Bluesky now too.
A very annoying feature of modern discourse is people simultaneously not being willing to read or learn anything while also insisting on speaking in an authoritative tone on everything. Not a new problem, but one that has spread uncontrollably.

Here come the Bonnies👀

Was doing a little Thanksgiving shopping today and couldn't help but notice that the Hertel Corridor was abuzz with talk about the 5-0 Bonnies matchup against #16 UNC. Could barely take three steps without someone asking me how I thought Buddy Simmons would fare against UNC's long and athletic squad

It is 2047. The Water Wars have driven most of the civilian population inland. My son and I ascend a bluff to get a signal and find out when the next resupply will be. We turn on the emergency radio and faintly hear that the Bills are signing Shaq Lawson. The NFL disbanded eight years ago.
The Bills have signed 2016 first-round pick DE Shaq Lawson to the practice squad and released DE Andre Jones Jr. in a corresponding move.

Always remember, Tom Brady got a girl in trouble, then left her. Then he paid Chip Kelly a lot of money.

Was so mad after the game last night that I stayed up until 2 reading a book. The Angel of Indian Lake - great stuff! Anyway, I'm still mad today. Didn't work.

Wild how many otherwise smart NFL writers/podcasters act like Allen was terrible in that game. It was maybe the best game in his career to that point!
Convinced Josh Allen has PTSD from the playoff game in Houston that will never go away

I rarely enjoy watching the Bills these days. Rarely enjoy watching any of my teams, for that matter.

Bonnies are now 5-0 heading into their game against UNC👀

A good example of how insane the median social media user has become: I just now learned that Jesse Plemons didn't use Ozempic. I just assumed he did because I've seen literally dozens of people (mostly on the other site) say he did, usually condemning it for inexplicable parasocial reasons.

Another miserable disgrace in a long line of them.
The Sabres lose 6-2 to the Flames. The winning streak ends at 2, and the boos come out from the home crowd.

Excited to record five more months of Sabres podcasts.

Meant to do this around the time of this past Oscars, but since we're halfway through the decade, it's a good time to do a personal 2020s Best Picture Nominee power ranking.
Haven't seen: Judas and the Black Messiah, The Father
Will never see: Trial of the Chicago Seven
Of the 45 I have seen...

I suppose i'll have to see "Wicked For Good" if it gets nominated for Best Picture, but I have my doubts about liking it for two major reasons:
1. Awful, stupid name
2. John Chu may be the worst big name director working in America right now

Hard to think of something more damning and emblematic of our current moment than Shadeur Sanders having any number of stans.
based on my email and responses on other platforms i think shedeur fans are going to be genuinely surprised when the browns draft a QB top 5. i dont know how we got here but the parasocial relationships are far too strong

He's on the short list of coolest men who ever lived.
Instead of the Nuzzi shit, let's focus on the fact that apparently Johnny Knoxville got married this past weekend, the wedding was officiated by John Waters, and a dog was involved
