I believe in a better world. Where people are put before money. Where we think about the legacy for the next generation Not the next election. We are not all born equal, But we, all things being equal, doors should be opened Not minds closed.

Reminder that this government needs to "tax wealth, not work" if we are to improve the economy.

Poor people spend on goods and services. This grows the economy.

Rich people buy your homes, your business, your working hours.

Does he benefit from having UK citizenship (if he has it, given he was born in Russia)?

If so, then, without something similar to the US tax on worldwide income, we're missing out on the £0.5-1m interest income per year per billion too.

Worthy of a page in @privateeyenews.bsky.social, exposing some of this week's daft headlines, and the real world behind them.

A pub “gone woke”, activist judges, a “revenge” plot by Ursula von der Leyen and a Lithuanian Ballerina personally trying to bring down Western Civilisation - this week’s headlines truly outdid themselves.

All in Bearly Newsworthy, the round-up of what happened in the news this week (or didn't).

We all need to teach ourselves the tricks - logical fallacies - that politicians use to fool us. They, and many RW podcasters, get taught how to debate in Private schools or self ed.

We need to know how to too.

Technically, the super-rich.

Anyone owning a £400,000 house thinks they're rich (because they think they will have to pay 40% IHT - they won't. Their inheritors MIGHT have to pay it, if they had no debts, on the 64,000 over the IHT limit, after they've got £364,000, tax free and unearned).

Yes, as tax payers, every £100 we spent went on providing the service. Now £80 goes to providing the service and £20 to shareholders...

(Obv. not exact figures. In the case of some Care Homes it's nearer £50).

You need to fix the root causes FIRST. Until that's done, people will commit crimes. Many of them need locking up for the good of society.

IDD better rehab is required. Privatisation is a factor.

The audience is with him.

Austerity is to blame for the lack of investment in housing, in schools, in hospitals, in increasing GP numbers...

At the root of this is the lie of "trickle down" economics, when, for the last 40+ years wealth has been flowing UP to the already richest amongst us.

* Edit Median is $3000 - sorry, changed the first to highlight it better, forgot to change the second from $2000

If you have 1 farmer earning $100 a week, 50 earning $1,000 and 100 earning $3000 (because they have another, non-farming, job or income) then the median is $2000.

It's a skewed distribution BECAUSE only running a farm is no longer profitable. Same in UK.

Extract from the linked article highlighting the points:
* Average (mean) is the sum of all values divided by the number of values.
* Median is the middle value in an ordered data set.
* Both metrics describe central tendency, but they serve different purposes.
* Use the average when data is normally distributed or free of outliers.
Use the median when the data is skewed or contains outliers.

For those who refuse to vote for Labour again whilst Mr Starmer is in charge, it IS an alternative to not voting - to actively register a protest vote.

He may gain the Greens a few seats, but unlikely to gain half a parliament.

Nor is Reform barrel-scraping for suitable candidates cf Councillors.

Be careful of wishes. This change only benefits the rich.
Extract from first link, three paragraphs starting "Accelerationism is the idea that the best way to bring about radical change in society is to speed up the very processes that shape society - even if those processes are part of the problem" Extract from the archived The Guardian article, starting "In recent years, Noys has noticed accelerationist ideas 'resonating' and being 'circulated'"

For the same reason we haven't had any more leaks about tax havens since the Panama papers etc? www.icij.org/investigatio... cepr.org/voxeu/column...

It's in the interest of the ultra-rich and powerful.

I wonder if there's an overlap in names involved?
Just asking questions.
Extract from the 2nd link "However, for the richest English dynasties, the Victorian elite of 1892-1920, it is clear that at least 20-32% of all elite wealth is hidden by their descendants in the period 1950-1992. This is shown in Figure 2.

Figure 2 The missing wealth of Victorian elite lineages

<Graph showing an estimated gap in the analysed families of around 100m each year between "observed wealth" & "observed + sum paid in inheritance tax/30" after higher taxes were introduced during & after the world wars>

At the individual surname level, this hidden wealth estimate, and the proportion of hidden wealth, strongly predict the appearance of a surname in the recent Offshore Leaks Database (International Consortium of Investigative Journalists 2019). This suggest that a proportion of inheritance taxation is potentially being evaded. Further, the richer the dynasty, the greater the proportion of hidden wealth. "

*Checks graph*. Nope. Not even in the 10%, let alone the £10m+ band 😇
Graph from 2020 (it's got worse since then) showing wealth inequality by country around the world. The UK is in one of the top 20, with the top 10% having more than $0.8m each, v the bottom 10% being in debt.
