Trump’s apologists defend his actions on Jan. 6, 2021 by claiming he merely told the mob to march “peacefully and patriotically.”

The truth: Trump’s speech writers added that phrase. It’s entirely inconsistent with the rest of his incendiary speech, which included about 20 uses of “fight.”

The notion that Mark Kelly committed sedition by telling troops to follow only legal orders is insane

And Hegseth's attempt to take away his retirement pay because he exercised his First Amendment rights to ensure our troops FOLLOW THE LAW is vindictive

Hopefully Kelly will challenge its legality
This is designed to have a chilling effect on all retired service members. The message is that if you speak out, you risk your retirement pay.

The wealthy are always so GD worried some poor people are gonna commit some small time fraud. Meanwhile, big corporations are committing HUGE afraid. Just look at defense contractors.

Why? Because we have all been taught to see the wealthy as virtuous and to see the poor as lazy and unworthy.

It will go well beyond just X and Musk. The other companies *absolutely* should get ahead of it.

After 9/11, the US invoked Article 5 of the NATO treaty and every NATO member helped to combat terrorism.

Some of our closest allies, like Denmark, went even further, voluntarily sending troops to Afghanistan and Iraq in support of US-led wars there.

Today, Trump is threatening to attack Denmark.

Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests
a lot of problems wouldn't exist if we had a congress with even an ounce of self interest
Honestly insane they didn't brief the gang of eight until it was underway

Currently in the US our Constitution means nothing. There are no real checks on Trump thanks to the GOP. The only peaceful way to save our nation is Democrats in Congress using every legal means to slow Trump down and by us preparing to win in 2026. Barring that only military action can save us.

It is important to note that in his inaugural address, Mamdani singled out not "individualism" but "rugged individualism," a phrase associated with Herbert Hoover. Many critics, including here a Dayton, OH editor in 1931, condemned that "system" as ill-equipped to deal with the economic crisis.
