Lover of a decent book, a strong coffee, a good museum and a loud orchestra. I do technical things for Art UK to fund the above habits.

The Met’s “Divine Egypt” show is spectacular, but instead of calling the section with these representations of Horus “Expressing the Divine,” they really should have just gone with “Angry Birds”

The perfect mid week pick-me-up? Heading to the @filmhouseedinburgh.bsky.social for Benoit Blanc's latest outing. More twists than a piece of fusilli, and sharp witted throughout.

And it's that time of year again! My first night of #EdIntFest25, starting at the Hub with the Kinnaris Quintet.

When you expect an article and instead, a short story prompt..
Clicked on a story about penguins in the Evening News, and ended up with a page on which only one line of the article could be read at a time. Both adverts were static, i.e. they didn't scroll with the content. I understand the economics of local news is brutal, but this is surely counterproductive?

I can confirm that the @filmhouseedinburgh.bsky.social is looking marvellous, and the new seats in the screens are very comfy. So pleased to have this icon back!

"Gonnae open the train doors Iona."
"Fraid I cannae dae that Dave..."

On a serious note, am not keen on this change.

In news that will not surprise anyone who reads these, I am once again on an early train. This is 11/13 for May, bringing this month's total distance travelled to the same as Edinburgh to Genoa (give or take a few km). Suffice to say after today, I wish to remain north of the border for a while!

I don't think people want AI friends. I think they want a living wage so they can go and do fun stuff with people and make friends.

On a series of trains today for meetings down south. The day has already peaked due to making a new friend on the journey :D

Took some time out from a busy weekend to see "The World of King James VI and I" at the Portrait Gallery. Just opened and runs through the summer, and well worth a look in if you find yourself in Edinburgh.

Very little to report to the world after a lovely weekend south of border. So here is a rather chunky squirrel who tried to climb @sdvr.bsky.social shortly after this was taken 😅

Good opera being much like buses (you wait ages, then two crop up at once), another night at the Festival Theatre! A wonderful production of Britten's Albert Herring with many chuckles throughout :)

It's a marvellous book, can second zero regrets with it :)
Borrow Museum Bums. You won't regret it.
A reminder that in the UK, borrowing a book from the library actually *helps* the author. We get money from every loan.

A lovely Friday night to wrap up the week, courtesy of Scottish Opera's delightful production of Don Pasquale. First rate singing and near perfect comic timing throughout.
