The Met’s “Divine Egypt” show is spectacular, but instead of calling the section with these representations of Horus “Expressing the Divine,” they really should have just gone with “Angry Birds”

And it's that time of year again! My first night of #EdIntFest25, starting at the Hub with the Kinnaris Quintet.
The Hub, A large (former) church building, from the front. You can see the spire, entrance door and the street across, which is dotted with a selection of people in high vis jackets. Clicked on a story about penguins in the Evening News, and ended up with a page on which only one line of the article could be read at a time. Both adverts were static, i.e. they didn't scroll with the content. I understand the economics of local news is brutal, but this is surely counterproductive?

In news that will not surprise anyone who reads these, I am once again on an early train. This is 11/13 for May, bringing this month's total distance travelled to the same as Edinburgh to Genoa (give or take a few km). Suffice to say after today, I wish to remain north of the border for a while!

Took some time out from a busy weekend to see "The World of King James VI and I" at the Portrait Gallery. Just opened and runs through the summer, and well worth a look in if you find yourself in Edinburgh.
Entrance to an exhibition gallery. There is a large painting on the wall showing four figures in a chapel praying next to a tomb (The Memorial of Lord Darnley by Livinus de Vogelaare, 1567) A portrait miniature and lid displayed in a glass case. The miniature is a depiction of Anne of Denmark. The lid is red and gold, and is decorated with a cypher A full-length portrait of James VI, hanging on a red wall. Good opera being much like buses (you wait ages, then two crop up at once), another night at the Festival Theatre! A wonderful production of Britten's Albert Herring with many chuckles throughout :)

A lovely Friday night to wrap up the week, courtesy of Scottish Opera's delightful production of Don Pasquale. First rate singing and near perfect comic timing throughout.
