Bit of a catch-up post: I was on Xitter as Lichtenbergian for a long time, decamped to Mastodon (still there), and am exploring here. If you think you remember me from the Old Times, you probably do. It's good to see so many of you!

I continue to sincerely want the term “Kavanaugh Stop” to be a badge of shame for the rest of Brett Kavanaugh’s days; the only bit of writing he’s known or remembered for; his sole contribution to the Law; for him to perceive, in little stabs of self-awareness, that this will be his rancid legacy.
What a sick world.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
I updated the photo to be a little more accurate...
...without the integrity of Oliver Douglas, of course.
I always sought to make my school library a cool — and safe — place to be, both at the secondary and elementary levels. I am proud to say that I have been told that I did so and that it made a difference.
I saw this photo earlier and felt something was missing, so I fixed it. You're welcome. #EastWing

Prevent it, resist it, let it not be so,
Lest child, child’s children, cry against you woe!
If I were of an entrepreneurial mind, I'd have turned my Be Bes initiative into a nationwide rallying cry. But I'm not, so y'all will just have to run with the concept: Everyone deserves life, and if you don't believe that, you're on Team Evil. dalelyles.com/be-bes-initi...
thanks for the correction — I'll have to check him out... some day! (that's the fun of being retired...)

I’m good with my taxes subsidizing social welfare for people who can’t afford food.

I’m enraged with my taxes subsidizing corporate welfare to businesses that won’t pay a living wage.
feels like a very Henry Ford way to look at education: "Speed up the belt, Sam, speed up the belt..." As a retired elementary librarian, I often pushed back against the idea of school as an assembly line, because it isn't.

Greeneville Zoo will not tolerate rumors of cheap taxidermy after what we've spent on it.

No one should feel stigmatized for utilizing a food bank.
100% of the stigma belongs to the people who have created a world where food banks are a necessity.
::gasp:: NO ONE COULD HAVE PREDICTED oh wait
Is there anything more joyous, more insane, more life-affirming than the finale of Act II of "Marriage of Figaro"? (Maybe the finale of Act IV?) #WorldOperaDay
