More than a decade ago, I sat down with @marcmaron.bsky.social in his garage to tape something new called a podcast. This time, he came to me to record his last episode.

We talked about the power of conviction, decency in an age of division, and the true story of America.

Hey, you idiotic propagandists at the New York Post:

God Bless America isn't the national anthem. It's a SHOW TUNE written by Irving Berlin.

This is nothing more than a continuation of the president’s desperate weaponization of our justice system.

I am not fearful — I am fearless.

We will fight these baseless charges aggressively, and my office will continue to fiercely protect New Yorkers and their rights..

Go off, Queen 👑 Jack Ciattarelli threw every cheap shot he could think of—but Mikie Sherrill didn’t even blink. Calm, commanding, and in control. That’s what real leadership looks like. #VoteNJ

To all those correctly noting the absence of a clear no. Agree that’s worrisome. But A) hard to reconcile “never compromise” with “ok, we submit” B) lotta alumni see her as standing firm and are glad. My interest is in encouraging that possibility.

It appears that my employer, Dartmouth, one of the Trump 9, has said no to the compact. All the better given that our president is cited within it. But she’s saying no. Count the small victories when they come.
Office of the President
Dear Dartmouth community,

As many of you know, Dartmouth was one of nine universities asked by the White House to give feedback by Oct. 20 on a draft of its “Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education.”

I am deeply committed to Dartmouth’s academic mission and values and will always defend our fierce independence.

You have often heard me say that higher education is not perfect and that we can do better. At the same time, we will never compromise our academic freedom and our ability to govern ourselves.

Best,
Sian Leah Beilock
President
