Look around you for artists making things with meaning. Here's what I make under my author hat and an imprint. Just like you likely don't go designer only (or ever) when you shop, look outside of bookstores and traditional publishing and find literature that's not part of the conveyor belt.

In terms of what’s understood to be socially acceptable behavior, normalizing the filming/taking pictures of people in public who are minding their own business (and putting it online) is one of the worst developments of the past 15 years.

For any of you artists out there who are at a loss with the way things are going right now, just remember Mr. Rogers' words of wisdom.
I think, more than ever, these words from Mr. Rogers hold as true as the day he spoke them.

An out-of-this-world zine for the times. I dive deep into non human intelligence theories out there so you don't have to fall down into any ol' rabbit hole: you can view from a safe distance and decide which one, if any, you want to get sucked into.

A reminder for those who are not aware: "remigration" is the process of deporting all non-white people from a country. It includes citizens and is, by definition, ethnic cleansing.

And to be clear: this is not fake. I just screenshot it myself.

absolutely, and not only in presentations - it makes me wonder about articles and opinion pieces too.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

As a short story author, I'm in awe of Rosario Ferré's "The Youngest Doll" (short and collection). Written in Spanish, Ferré translated her own work into English

I really pause sending an author email once a month, then spend a good amount of time sifting through tons of emails from companies sending me marketing emails DAILY. I dont think authors should do this, but remember the audacity when you pause. Esp if u r sending out stories, not just links.

As someone who hires human copy editors for her imprint and books... can I emphasize how much more they do than flagging grammar and spelling (which using AI for it might suggest) but dive deep in the nuance of human language, fact check etc? That offer style possibilities in word choices via
"The director of the Museum of the City of New York, Stephanie Hill Wilchfort, said she no longer needs to hire copy editors to work on annual reports. [She is turning to AI.]"

This should be embarrassing to admit.
