I love you Chicago! Stay strong!
Capitalism is bad at providing basic services and goods without literally poisoning us. The future is not this.

The EPA is starting to allow the use of pesticides containing PFAS on food.

The move is part of an effort to roll back the regulation of what are called "forever chemicals" because they don't break down easily in the environment.

My boys routinely eat TWO dinners and TWO lunches. I’m very tired.
Before you have kids, you intellectually understand they need to eat dinner every day. But you do not understand what this means. You can't. They need to eat dinner EVERY day

Capitalism is incredible. Sorry, former teacher, your retirement fund is gone because 5 guys who've collectively never worked a full hour told the banks to put all the money in the country into virtual girlfriend futures
WSJ: “.. If the AI market blows up, the blast radius would be wide, hitting not only Wall Street firms, but also pensions, mutual and exchange-traded funds and individual investors, because of how debt is often sliced and resold across the financial landscape.”

For the rest of my life, I will never forget how many people in Albany Park, Chicago stood up, tracked, put their lives on the line, and fought ICE to protect their neighbors, to protect us, Latinos. My heart is full.

Two weeks into a new program that gives New Mexico children free childcare, officials are opening up about the surge that happened day one & how it’s been moving forward. In just a short time, the state said thousands of children are now enrolled in free childcare, & daycares are lining up to join.

While so many sycophants, politicians, and billionaires seek to destroy our livelihood, it’s always a good reminder to check in with the scientists who make our very lives possible. This is HUGE.

Bovino is the face of state terror.
Bovino: "We're ratcheting operations up in Chicago. That's a very corrupt system in Chicago. Whether it's those elected leaders like Pritzker or those out of control judges, Chicago needs some attention. You're gonna see some very dynamic operations."

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Dems will throw us under the bus each time. To eradicate fascism fully, we will have to go through them.
"Democrats could have held the line on the shutdown, and spent weeks watching Trump’s approval ratings fall," writes @jonathanbchait.bsky.social
Instead, he argues, they're making a mistake by giving in:

It's nuts. I can feel it everywhere I go in this city. Everybody in every neighborhood is exhausted, traumatized, and on alert, ready to protect our neighbors.

I don't go anywhere without a whistle and a fully charged phone these days.
