I get really frustrated with the way so many people try to gatekeep "game design" behind the activity of "product design", like it only counts if you're making a complete object to offer to people. But "thinking like a game designer" is something most RPG players do in order to even play at all.

I had an idea to combine the sticky and reach GL into a single weapon a while ago: scope swapped between sticky and bouncing, and the reload key was used to detonate the stickies.

I had an idea of remaking Quake but as a 3d metroidvania (or a dungeon crawler IG)
You start off with only an axe, and slowly build up your arsenal which also allows you to unlock new areas, along with runes that change the layouts of the levels

As for the nail guns, maybe you could combine the nails and the lightning gun to create a path for the electricity to travel down if the generator is out of reach.

You could even have that as a gameplay feature to create an AOE shock trap.

I'm a very forgiving person, often to my own detriment, but Brianna Wu doesn't come across to me as someone who actually had a profound epiphany. Her post reads like someone who realized she picked the wrong team late into the game.
