The Gospels tell us that Jesus Christ went to the ostracized, marginalized, and outcasts to restore them to the community. If you are doing the opposite, sowing division and disrupting communities, can you really claim to be a follower of Christ?

The USA is in the current situation because the Democratic Party failed to clean up the mess when they had the chance, probably fearing retribution should they loose power. Now we all have to watch as the Republicans exact the retribution they feared. Ironic - maybe. Predictable - absolutely.

My early years of priesthood were spent ministering to those afflicted. I watched so many wither before my eyes. It pained me terribly as they went home to the Lord; ostracized and abandoned. Their funerals were often only myself and the funeral director. Please join me in remembering them. 🙏

The delusions continue...

How about eliminating the income tax and replacing it with universal Healthcare for all funded through a VAT like many other successful "first world" countries?

Almost a week ago, a judge ordered the end of the National Guard deployments in DC. It would not surprise me to find out the shooting was done by administration insiders to justify the deployment and martial law.

Reading this thread, I wonder how many of those outraged at charity CEO salaries happily watch or attend major sports league games, unbothered by the m/billions of $ their support feeds into the pockets of athletes and owners.
I was just thinking about contributing to the "charity" Feeding America. Until I discovered that the salary for its CEO, Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, was approximately $949,866 in 2024, with her total compensation being $1,113,502. Apparently, feeding America isn't her top priority.

Moved in September just before the Government shutdown. An agonizing 51 days between pay checks (43 days plus the 8 it took to get pay processed) later we can finally begin exploring the new to us local restaurants.

Today's pick, Doc Rocco's Deli and Market.

You do not "send legislation to the other chamber" hoping they will "correct serious deficiencies in the bill."

You write a good bill to start. If you don't agree with everything in the bill, vote against it.

Unfortunately this seems to be the way the current congress believes you operate.

As a step toward a more united country and world, how about we stop using phrases like "left leaning" and "right leaning" especially with respect to people? Just <name> is enough, then describe the situation and let the person receive the information without the pre-bias bias.
