Recording and live mixing full orchestra this weekend is a highlight reel thing for me. Tune in this Sat to WDAV for the hear the broadcast.

Geffel mains. Schoeps outriggers. Spot mics around as needed. Great sounding hall. Top talent musicianship.

Dear fellow musicians,

The recording studio is not a place of pixie dust and miracles. You wont get magic on the first take and will be REQUIRED to work hard to create the perfect version of your music. This is not a Santa Clause process. It's not a money commitment. It's a workplace.

Do work.

"Collector's Edition" of a high priced studio tool says a lot about humans and the industry at large.

A selfpub blog is the most unproblematic and effective tool imo. The idea that it should be a social site will always lead to enshitification, and then the site collapses into Dead Internet, and you lose all your writing or become trapped in that ecosystem.

If not gunning for coin? Wordpress

Agreed. Feel the same vibe in airports.

Every football fan should have the option to mute Chris Collinsworth commentary.

I wonder what the collective studio billing hours were incurred while guiarists struggled to retune a Floyd Rose trem system? Globally for all time? My guess is 1000s of hours but it could be 10x or more.

Thank you Floyd Rose.

Premiere for a film we mixed/designed. Always fun to attend these screenings.

Spitfire Symphonic Strings might be the worst string library I've ever purchased. Maybe worse still was the money spent on Kepler Strings... also by Spitfire.

Not surprising what happened with them. Started strong. Then went all Jony Ive with the grind of BIG KEYNOTES. A shame really.

I think I qualify as a veteran mix engineer.... and a thing that has become REALLY clear to me in recent years is that compression is widely overused and quickly leads to a dead flat sound.

These are mistakes I made. Try to listen for it.

NPR is... less and less serious journalism every year. Current drive home? A fluff feature about THE BACHELORETTE.

Its like People Magazine hour on NPR. Hard news checked out years ago.

The work is only intense for those who put in. The larger the corporate structure the more inefficient and greater the number of "professional delegators" and "circular meetings"

Apple has been at the top for too long. The fall was inevitable.... and probably happened years ago.

Also... the pops can be a symptom of Primary Leader disputes or digital clock sync issues. Watch the Event Logs and be careful to assign Leader/Follower roles. A&H mixer REALLY want to be the clock leader... badly

Its also important that Dante be on an isolated network imho. Sharing network resources with non-Dante actors can also lead to oddities.

Its 100% DVS. The Dante Virtual Soundcard is terrible for mission critical needs. Fine for monitoring, testing, etc.

I tried multiple times, many laptops, different configs, network settings... alway some random packet loss or click/pop in recording. Only solution is a dedicated box like RME

I just saw someone refer to the olive garden as italian dennys
and now you also need to change your lexicon so we can all live like this

Some of y’all forget the reason we have food safety regulations is because companies used to do things like adding chalk to spoiled milk so it looked normal.

Regulations don’t exist because governments enjoy them. They exist because pure unadulterated capitalism would kill us.
