I remember reading the Kronos Chronicles as a tucked away teen out in the country, thinking "wow these Romani people seem really cool and interesting!" So I read up on them in real life and was horrified by how they were treated.
In some way, learning about the Romani opened my eyes to racism
derparrot.bsky.social
There used to be a big Romani population in Czechia. But in the 1960s as part of a Leninist policy of "resolving the national question" the communists introduced mandatory health checks, during which Romani women were without their knowledge sterilised by doctors.

In that case even gerrymandering wouldn't have the effect you're hoping for

Trump is going to fall, either to the government shutdown or his health and your democracy will barely survive

Saying "oh well kingdom time" doesn't solve anything, so you should aim for reform or lie down and shrivel away

The hype is real!
Everyone, read these books!

This has gone out to beta readers. :)

Very true, hence I didn't suggest to drop the motion.
The post Trump era has the possibility to bring proper change to the US.
Gerrymander back, for now, but when the time comes know that it isn't where you should stop. The status quo is no longer an option for american democracy
thistessa.bsky.social
Have you also considered not just playing their game, but aiming higher and changing the rules through proper electoral reform? Wouldn't need all this redistricting and gerrymandering without the winner takes it all principle / electoral college
thistessa.bsky.social
I wonder if this whole Trump thing is going to make a majority of people see in what dire state american democracy is in. Will reforms finally pass, or will neither party acknowledge the shortcoming of their system, given that it is the root of both parties' power?
thistessa.bsky.social
That is not entirely true, even tho it might appear like this at first
The real problem is called "Big Tent Coalition"
Those values are sacrificed in order to keep the big tent party together when the party leadership moves away from them. Small parties don't easily give up their views

So Silksong locked me out of entering Act 2 after I explored a bit in there and decided to backtrack. The entrance I once took was now closed and after a very frustrating 10 hour detour I found my way back inside through a very hidden, secretive route I had to google for. Great game design honestly

Things to consider:

Document the violence & violations--on camera, w/photos, saving images--any way you can. Speaking as a historian- it will matter

Point out violations--w/images & text--even if you think it won't matter. It will. It needs to be called out & exposed

You are a witness.
Expose it.

The american mind cannot understand welfare that's not socialism thanks to decades of propaganda.
Not saying this is the only point of contemption, but one that regularly shows up in discussions

We can embrace our shared history of this land and work on fixing the rift history has caused between pur cultures.
Lots of Germans already share friendships with the Poles living in the old home of their grandparents. It is mostly government unwillingness that is blocking a mending of relations
thistessa.bsky.social
Germany already buried their "Erbfeindschaft" with France and as a vommited EU member we recognize the sanctity of our shared home. If Poland's government were to wish for actually constructive dialogue instead of an unyielding demand for reparations from a government that no longer exists,
thistessa.bsky.social
Not on a similar level, but enough to take into account. Under soviet leadership it was forbidden to talk about, but settler Poles in the new land noticed the scars left behind.
It is time to lift this embargo of thoughts and confront our common history and enter dialogue to move past it
thistessa.bsky.social
Poland needs to finally burry the hatchet with Germany.
Yes, unspeakable atrocities were inflicted on the poles by fascist Germany, a regime that both our countries are glad are ousted.
Then, a lot of harm was inflicted on germans in the new polish land during resettlement.

Some transgender people see only darkness in front and behind them.

The current climate is especially accelerating this.

Transgender people just want to love the people they love and live their lives as themselves.
Let's all join hands and change the world🫶🌏🫶

Start presenting our strength and determination then. Shoot down whatever unauthorized plane or drone enters our airspace
They are violating our freedom on a regular basis now and words and condemnation have shown zero effect, like the last countless times Russia was condemned.

Shoot
Them
Down

Our critical infrastructure is at risk.

And Europe will respond to this threat with strength & determination.

We’ve just wrapped up the Foreign Affairs Council, joined by Ministers from Brazil, Mexico and India.

The message to our partners was simple:
the EU is a reliable actor.

We support multilateralism, free trade and a world grounded in the UN Charter.

Extract from my press remarks ↓

Putin is not ready for war with Nato if he's facing a stalling front and conscription crisis in Ukraine alone
The air attacks on our territory are nothing but an insult to our sovereignty and a psy-op to deter european rearmament
Shoot down their drones and planes! Show them Europe is strong!
thistessa.bsky.social
Europe is on a path to snatch world leadership from the US thanks to Trump's maniacy

A strong Europe, united not just in name, is going to reverse this worldwide drift to authoritatianism by showing our democratic strength!

But for that, Europe also needs to learn how to stand up for itself

Chiitan loves all transgender people.
I've received a lot of criticism for expressing my support, but what's more important is that all transgender people live happy lives.

I don't think the word conservative describes a lot of politicians anymore.
The meaning of conservatism has changed so drastically that by now most "conservatives" don't wanna conserve, they wanna devolve and exploit so they can feed the fires of hate in their heart.

Regressivism comes to mind
thistessa.bsky.social
Europe is under attack, you can't deny it anymore. An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us and we need to show unity and stand up for each other.
Giving in now would be an invitation to repeat attacks like this and eventually there will be casualties. They will push further and further
