Make exorcism normal again (and safe… and part of holistic care in collaboration with medical professionals)!
The basic paradox the CofE faces is that it’s commitment to Safeguarding is sincere and genuine, but it also wants its ministry of exorcism to be secret - even from most of its own clergy, and certainly from society. I’m not sure this is a cake the Church can both have and eat.

Talking to the dead is good. It is, so far as one can tell, bordering on normal. Having an AI pretending to be them talk back is just a recipe for never processing the loss.

I'm not sure the accessibility software is being helpful, since my role involves overseeing the training of lay ministers for several dioceses, and it consistently transcribes "lay ministers" as "lame ministers". If it gets me fired, to who do I send the bill? ⚓✝️

Me watching all the comments on Archbishop Sarah that go along the lines of, “I couldn’t be happier that the new Archbishop’s a woman, but…”

Amazing how people in the secular press drop the feminism whenever a woman does or says something. ⚓️✝️ #CofEpeeps

A surprise and much needed day off has occasioned some much needed garden TLC. I am still astounded how short the winter is in this little walled space. Spring is already marching on! And the red rose we pinched from a building site has survived its untimely transplant! 🌱

It shall be nice to pray "for Emma our Bishop and Sarah our Archbishop" at Evensong tonight. Laus deo. #CofEpeeps ✝️⚓

Oh gosh! Rest eternal!
Just heard via my old parish fb group that Fenwick Lawson has died. His work - striking, often monumental chainsaw sculptures depicting Christian imagery, history & the challenge of its moral vision - inscribe Durham & the Northumbrian coast within a sacred landscape en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fenwick...

Genuinely delighted by our students’ willingness to throw themselves into Trinitarian theology this week. Also delighted by the freedom to teach with a whiteboard.

If I wave a magic wand or a class 2 relic at the pile of books and hope, the lecture slides on Christology will magically appear, right? Right?

Yesterday: four hours of lectures on the Trinity. Today: 3 3/4 hours on theological reflection methods and 1 1/4 hours on dramatic preaching. On the train home and contemplating tomorrow’s sermon.

As a gay cleric in the CofE, today I feel guilt (that I didn't do more in the LLF process) but also affirmation (that I didn't sacrifice other things in my life in order to spend energy and emotion on a process which has yielded nothing). I am devastated and also unsurprised. #CofEPeeps

Taught an introductory lecture on the Holy Trinity tonight, and the students were really sparky… spotting heresies, problems and opportunities faster than I could teach them. So satisfying!!!

Theologians more often should have beer together whilst sitting on dreadful sofas. I think this would improve the quality of scholarship and our service to the Church immeasurably.

A new meaning to "Aim for the stars"
In 1931, German engineer Herr Richter attached 12 solid-fuel rockets to a bicycle, which were ignited by a large battery. One report says he managed to reach 88 kmh before being thrown from the bike. He wasn't seriously injured, but that's the last anyone heard of his Raketenrad.

I have three classes of students for doctrine this term. Monday’s group came up with interesting answers to the introductory question, “What is doctrine used for in your church?” Let’s see how tonight’s group compare.
