"Results show that for every reported professional benefit that scientists once gained from Twitter, scientists can now gain that benefit more effectively on Bluesky than on Twitter."

Councillor Lukes presides over one of the most disrespectful public bodies I’ve ever had the misfortune of interacting with. Just dripping with disdain for the public who come to voice our concerns about our families’ safety, and no attention to process or rules. A thug.

Winnipeg city council is a disgrace.
Councillors on the committee not engaging at all with delegations concerning Osborne safety or Wellington Cres.

I haven’t posted in ages, but I just want to pop in to say Morgan Rielly continues to be the biggest problem on a very poor Leaf team.

Am I the only one who gets a real kick out of citation chains? Reading people's writing and footnotes, and making assessments and notes, finding the sources in the footnotes and reading them yourself, and making more notes?
I...love it?
Not for academics it isn’t. You learn by reading and by following citation chains and talking to other people in the field. Letting the AI do the summary is abdicating your job.

Scott Gillingham and Janice Lukes won’t give us any traffic calming on Wellington Cres, but a large crowd of neighbours walking and talking about the missing pilot project by the side of the road did slow a lot of drivers tonight. Still, plenty of speeders.

This might be the worst ICE video yet, because it’s literally random dudes hanging around, and then a bunch of heavily armed thugs running them down completely out of nowhere, because they’re brown. It’s a nightmare that would have seemed excessive in Jim Crow. Everyone in America should see this.
ICE is not only chasing down every random brown person in Chicago, they have a cameraman following them to film this for social media. Cruelty and inhumanity as content.

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

Our politics seems to be entering a phase of "right supremacy" where only the lives of right-wingers have value. Assassinating the leader of a state legislative body in her own damn home was business as usual, but all of America has to have a reckoning if it's a far-right online influencer.

Here’s an idea.

How about, instead of trying to hide the realities of our city’s failures from the eyes of suburbanites under the guise of safety, we ACTUALLY HELP THESE PEOPLE.

We apparently have billions for roads. How about we help humans first?

Just an unserious approach to climate change.
Greenhouse gas emissions from Alberta's oilsands have also continued to set new records.

They hit 86.5 megatonnes in the latest National Inventory Report.

(By comparison: Quebec's *total* emissions were 78.9 megatonnes that year.)

@johnhodge.bsky.social question about the Bomber/Lions game last night.

In the 1st Wheatfall was called for a crackback block that occurred during the 1st down play. The Bombers were penalized 15 yards from where the play ended (they had lost yards) and lost the down. Was that applied correctly?
