This directly contradicts earlier guidance from the DoD that the shutdown would not impact PCS moves for military families.
Incredibly shortsighted of the Army, given the likelihood of no paycheck next week for these soldiers.

An email from Army MPD halting PCS moves, effective immediately.

Further clarification that new PCS moves will not be initiated and soldiers will remain where they are, unless they are currently traveling.

Word on the military street is that Fort Riley and Fort Carson have stopped allowing soldiers to transfer, effective immediately, blaming the shutdown. Some families have already had their household goods shipped and now they're stuck in empty houses, or even hotels, waiting for the Army.

I agree that it wouldn't have happened under Harris; however, this type of messaging is essential for Democrats to seize on.
"Look at this MAGA voter. This can happen to you." "Republicans don't want to pay the military." "MAGA is killing military families."

Current National Guard members in Chicago:
- 298 Illinois
- 200 Texas
- 14 California (unknown if more at travelling from OR)
