Physical geographer. Mostly retired. Partial to bogs, landscape photography, mountains, golf and whisky. Not always in that order.
I have so many photo books it now takes something a bit special for me to buy another. But my handmade copy of Sea by @andrewatkinson.bsky.social turned up this week. Absolutely stunning work - both the photographs and the handmade itself. Huge thanks Andrew.

These are some of the most beautiful patterns in nature that I think I've ever seen!

Spate in a highland river.
Taken 12 hours apart… it doesn’t matter how many times you witness it, it’s amazing how rapidly they respond to heavy rain.

Just heard Kieran Metcalfe passed away, at a ridiculously young age. Difficult to process. Fabulous photographer, wonderful man. Thoughts with his family.

A cartoon for the mathematically-minded lovers of flatlands, a particular Venn diagram in itself.

Each time I come to this area I'm compelled to visit this particular spot. The pebbles in the gaps between the eroded basalt columns are just so incredible to me - so neat! The access road is closed so it involved a longer walk to get there, but worth the effort :)

Here is an image from the Isle of Arran. I love the rock formation.

Been enjoying others images here for a while, so time to start posting. Snaps from recent fog in our local woods.
