Human Wreckage 365 project day 24: the unfinished business of a confused dog walker or…?

The US FDA defines “milk” as “the lacteal secretion, practically free from colostrum, obtained by the complete milking of one or more healthy cows.” There’s also been recent legal pressure in the EU & elsewhere to stop calling plant milks “milk”. So what can human breast milk be called now? Booze?

Nor is “culture”.
"Tradition" is just peer pressure from dead people. It is never an excuse for cruelty.

“…shifts in global food production to plant-based diets by 2050 could lead to sequestration of 332–547 GtCO2, equivalent to 99–163% of the CO2 emissions budget consistent with a 66% chance of limiting warming to 1.5 °C.” For over 5 years, this solution has been largely ignored on this ship of fools

In Australia recently a single storm brought extreme flooding covering 20% of the entire continent of Australia - an area double the size of Texas.

Hundreds of thousands of farm animals drowned.

The Australian prime minister subsequently endorsed INCREASED fossil fuel extraction to make it worse.

Absolutely we should fear terrorism and seek to prevent it.
But we should also fear those who use either real terrorism or bogus claims about terrorism to boost their own powers, restrict our freedoms and corrode our democracy.
Both present major threats to public life.

Very important & persuasive arguments in this piece. “This should be a clarifying moment for all of us: capitalism cares about our species’ prospects as much as a wolf cares about a lamb’s.”
For capital, the purpose of production is not primarily to meet needs or achieve social progress, much less to deliver on any ecological goals. It's to maximise/accumulate profit. It requires perpetual growth – ever increasing aggregate production, regardless of whether it is necessary or harmful.

Back on the bike this morning for school commute. Within 4 minutes of being on the road, two cars broke through red lights to make a turn that would have been doable if they waited another 30 seconds, 4 yellow boxes blocked and lines of traffic. But bike lanes are the problem 🤷🏻‍♂️
