I really enjoyed Wicked For Good. The Wickeds will be beloved classics to many children who see them at the cinema, taken by their bittersweet messages regarding the pain of othering, privilege & the need for critical thinking, imaginatively extending the Oz world.

My super talented friends Big Howl in Philadelphia have directed this new music video for the Philly Specials. There's a lot of Jim Henson-like gentleness & humanity to this mix of puppetry and live-action, that compliments the warmth of the music.

It's amazing seeing how the 2004 Star Wars DVDs seem to meld both the '93 Definitive Collection & the '97 SE in terms of color. It takes the greens and blues of teach here, sometimes looking more like the '93 master, sometimes more like the '97 one. Yet, it's all consistent within itself. Odd.

The 1987 The Running Man has an awesome soundtrack. Most interesting is the in-movie TV gameshow tune, "Paula's Theme". Paula Abdul choreographed the film, so I suspect it was named after her & I think it was 1 of 2 tracks recorded ahead of filming, to use on-set.

I double took at this trailer, as I could have sworn I saw the arrow to the head shot, but flipped, elsewhere. And I did!:

On his latest podcast, Roger Deakins notes how he learned a lot and was informed from shooting documentaries, but never thought he worked on a very good one.

I'm sure there's a good Making of/Retrospective of the show that explains all of this, but I had no idea/memory they actually had the contestants (at some point) blindly falling off a ledge in the blue screen room. Or maybe it was an insert shot afterwards.
Wonder if this still keeps him awake at night

This is long overdue. Comparison caps from three different release of Return of the Jedi - Original US Widescreen Laserdisc, the 1997 Special Edition Laserdisc, & the 2004 DVD. There's some EYE POPPING changes and problems here with the DVD master, which is a LOOOONG story to get into.

I saw this several times on the big screen during the Eisner/Katzenberg rerelease. There's really no experience like it.

One day, I would really like to see it set to the 1982 Irwin Kostal rerecording of Stowkowski's original soundtrack.
It’s still remarkable that Disney produced - and released - this segment in 1940. A horror short that should rank with its Universal monster movie contemporaries… The animation is lush and experimental, and really shows off the Disney special animated effects team…
