Educators need to get serious about the extremely harmful likely effects of using AI in research and writing. If ever there was a time to help students to develop critical skills in these areas, it is now.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

@gelliottmorris.com's piece on what Americans actually want from parties is fascinating. It also (re-)produces a classic finding: Almost no one is in the "socially liberal but economically conservative" bucket, but those who are have very popular Substacks

Seems reasonable.
Any President who calls for the opposition party to be hanged should be immediately impeached and removed from office.

Even more deranged than normal.
Trump on Jerome Powell: "I'd love to fire his ass. He should be fired. The only thing Scott [Bessent] is blowing it on is the Fed. The rates are too high, Scott. And if you don't get it fixed fast, I'm going to fire your ass."

Ok, so the new plan is: instead of the government giving money to the big, fat, rich insurance companies, the government will give money to individuals who will in turn give it to the big, fat, rich insurance companies (presumably for an inferior product at a higher price).

Both dreadful.
Trump: "THE ONLY HEALTHCARE I'LL SUPPORT OR APPROVE IS SENDING MONEY DIRECTLY BACK TO THE PEOPLE W/ NOTHING GOING TO THE BIG, FAT, RICH INSURANCE COMPANIES, WHO HAVE RIPPED OFF AMERICA LONG ENOUGH. THE PEOPLE WILL BE ALLOWED TO NEGOTIATE & BUY THEIR OWN, MUCH BETTER, INSURANCE. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!"

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:

If in doubt, blame the ___

Insert: Jews/blacks/immigrants/Catholics/Protestants/women/communists as required.

They’ve been at it for centuries.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Trump is wildly unpopular. The Democratic Party leadership should act accordingly.
trump's approval among adults falls below 40% for the first time in his second term: fiftyplusone.news/polls/approv...

his net rating is -16.4, statistically indistinguishable from his -17.2 rating at this point in his first term: www.gelliottmorris.com/p/data

She makes a fair point.

I am convinced that Trump and the majority of his cabinet could not pass the citizenship exam.
Unlike you, I can read and that’s why I know what the constitution says.
Trump on Ilhan Omar: "I look at somebody who comes from Somalia...and she comes in and tells us how to run our country. 'The Constitution says this, the Constitution says that.' The whole thing is crazy."

At just 34 years old, Zohran Mamdani culminated a meteoric political rise Tuesday by scoring a decisive victory in a polarizing mayoral election.

He will become the youngest mayor in over a century, the first Muslim to lead New York City.
