Every Canadian should be hanging their head at our PM’s shameful response to Trump’s illegal acts of war.

The Canadian government celebrates the US committing the crime of aggression against Venezuela, in violation of international law and the UN Charter, even as it calls for respect for international law.

I’m not surprised: Carney took a similar approach when the US illegally attacked Iran last year.

You tell me what the effective difference is between Mark Carney’s statement and Pierre Poilievre’s.

Two sides of the same coin. Hell. Same side of the same coin.

Pierre Poilievre really does live to roll over and show his belly to Donald Trump, doesn’t he?

Heather stands in the best tradition of Canadian social democracy re: human rights & international law.

She walks the walk in Parliament, in the Party and across the country on Gaza, on Ukraine & now again on Venezuela.

The silence from the Prime Minister & Liberal MPs is deafening.

Trump’s administration has decided the rules no longer apply - U.S. or international law.

Justice does not come from force. It comes from accountability under international law.

Maduro’s repression does not justify these actions and Canada must not tolerate any violations of international law.
NDP denounces the illegal attack of Trump against the venezuelian regime. Latin America is not owned by the USA and it’s not its playground. International law and the people’s right to self determination exists. The liberal government should clearly defend these principles. #NDP @ndp.ca #cdnpoli

This is a dangerous and irresponsible response.

Cheering the illegal abduction of a foreign head of state and celebrating U.S. control over another country is wrong.

Canada cannot pick & choose when international law applies. If the rules only matter when it’s convenient, they don’t protect anyone

I know it’s a Saturday and Heaven forbid we intrude about your rest but . . . any Elbows to be found?
In 2025, one of the first steps we took as Canada’s new government was to cut taxes for the middle class.

This year, millions of Canadians will benefit — helping you keep more of your hard-earned paycheques.

U.S. oil companies are going to take over Venezuela’s oil fields and industry, President Trump said, declaring that U.S. oil interests will revive oil production in a country with one of the world’s largest reserves.

Julius Caesar’s conquests in the Gallic Wars were illegal, under Roman law. But they responded to a sense amongst Romans that Rome had calcified, become smaller - that the Republic had become decadent through interaction with the luxurious East.

What good is an Empire that does not conquer?

In 2026:

Genocide will still be wrong.

Kidnapping children and tearing apart families will still be wrong.

Ignoring ecological collapse will still be suicidal.

The amount of people willing to compose calm, measured prose defending or denying each of the above will still be astounding.
