With the future of nuclear arms control so bleak, I wanted to repost a brief comment from last year.
Nuclear deterrence is not automatic. In the Cold War it was organized through elaborate bureaucracy, in the neoliberal period through market mechanisms.
All of that is now gone!

There are sections of the Iranian and Venezuelan diasporas who oppose US imperialism against their countries of origin but many of them end up alienated from US antiwar activism because it is dominated by organizations that reflexively defend the governments of Officially Bad Countries

According to multiple NYT sources, it wasn’t even military personnel at Fort Bliss that fired an anti-drone laser at alleged cartel drones. It was CBP who used the weapon on loan from DoD against a child’s party balloon they mistook for a drone. The Pentagon gave CBP an anti-aircraft weapon.

Redfield is a Trump appointee and known crank. If COVID was circulating in summer of 2019, the entire timeline of the pandemic would be different. Chinese authorities were not "pushing the wet market narrative," they actively covered it up.
