Helioscope artist Colleen Coover is at a small drafting table, drawing with brush and ink. She’s wearing a cap she knitted herself and has her favorite coffee mug nearby.

The finished drawing, executed in ink and wash. Howard, an anthropomorphic duck with a loud tie and a cigar in his mouth, fights off Garko the Man-Frog. If you try to picture Garko based on that name, I bet you’ll come pretty close.
Howard was created by Steve Gerber and Val Mayerik. Garko was by Gerber and (I think?) Frank Brunner. I’d check, but bsky sometimes crashes if I switch apps in the middle of writing alt text. One of you will check for me though, I bet.
