Former crime and justice reporter, The Washington Post. Big fan of sports, music, comedy, sleeping, not necessarily in that order.
What an atrocious, disgusting act by Bezos, Will Lewis and Matt Murray. Crushed for all my friends and colleagues wrongly laid off today, sad for all Post readers who lose so much quality journalism.
A staggering statement from former Washington Post editor Marty Baron: "This ranks among the darkest days in the history of one of the world's greatest news organizations."

A Kafkaesque form of domestic surveillance, intimidating Americans for lawful speech.

It's excruciating to watch Jeff Bezos dangle massive layoffs over the immensely talented Local and Sports staffs of the @washingtonpost. The Local staff has been steadily reduced for years, despite constantly great reporting, and Sports is the reason I buy the paper. #SavethePost

In case you’re wondering why Trump & his lackeys always lie about numbers, there is a perverse and effective logic behind it. Lying works for them. Watch Angela Lansbury explain it in my favorite scene from The Manchurian Candidate. Her resemblance to Susie Wiles makes it even better.

Just lie. If the truth doesn’t reflect well on you, just lie. A strategy that has spread widely in this administration.

The few interesting things about Melania—like why she knew Jeffrey Epstein before Donald, what her “modeling” career really entailed, her "arrangement" with Donald, what she thinks about Donald’s constant cheating, and if she really hates Ivanka and Christmas—are omitted from the film.

Lutnick previously claimed that he was so revolted by Epstein that he had cut ties with him years earlier.

Oh boy, the DOJ's civil rights division is going to investigate the Alex Pretti killing. Who cares? There is no chance that this will be a fair or thoughtful investigation. and we all know the outcome. They don't do the job, regardless of the administration, and haven't for years.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche’s announcement regarding Alex Pretti’s death signals an apparent shift from DOJ’s handling so far of shootings involving agents.

HUGE news! This is about a Trump admin effort to arrest thousands of screened and vetted refugees in Minnesota and fly them to Texas to be jailed and then interrogated.

After the interrogation is over, people are being dumped on the street and told to find their own way back.

“Attached to this order is an appendix that identifies 96 court orders that ICE has violated in 74 cases. … ICE has likely violated more court orders in January 2026 than some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence.”

It’s notable that the president can go on TV and be a total gutter racist, and somehow this isn’t news in the slightest. Says a lot about the sickness of American society right now.
Trump: "They're paid agitators and insurrectionists. Nobody talks about the fact that $19 billion at a minimum is missing in Minnesota, given to a large degree by Somalians. They've taken it. Somalians. A lot of very low IQ people."
