Ok, this @reckless.bsky.social piece in @theverge.com is definitely the most fun piece of service journalism I've read this year (or maybe ever).

We haven’t really tried alternative Social Media. Just little bits of transparency about from where and how information is reaching us, is used by people immediately. If chosen well, such cues could empower users and reward quality. Some suggestions from some time ago: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Addendum:

The reason I think Mamdani did well is that he achieved what he needed (a non-hostile Trump) without compromising on principle.

And I think that should be the model across the board: Pragmatic but principled.

Guys. Mandani just bulldozed the Democratic establishment. Walked into the White House, and hypnotized Donald Trump into a democratic socialist. The spell will wear off as Miller, Vought and others reacting in horror rush in to break the spell. But this is hilarious!

Mastodon has a new CEO, with Eugen Rochko stepping down and the former CFO Felix Hlatky taking over the leadership role.

this week's fediverse report is a reflection on that and a closer look at the changes

I spent the day at #EuroskyLive and it is so energizing to hear developers make a better case for European innovation and competition policy than a whole high-level summit on digital sovereignty yesterday...

Digital sovereignty isn’t just about laws and policies that help us move away from Big Tech. It’s also about civil society initiatives leveling up their professional and organizational capacity. Good news:

Jaja, "Big Tech muss weg", I know.

Germany‘s resistance to the EU‘s phase-out of combustion engines barely matters. The only choice Germany will have long before 2035 is whether to buy Asian or German electric vehicles. In that sense, Germany‘s government is frivolously pretending to be pro-business while it really is anti-growth.
