Wonder if this was the inspiration for Burn After Reading
The Spider Mastermind at the end of the first BethesDoom does this without dialogue. It actually gets less dangerous by its final phase, where it's so beat up that it can't stand and crawls around spraying lasers wildly and flinging random debris at you, just flailing desperately to survive.
Bluesky is the place to be if you want to watch elder-Millennial liberals hit peak earning years and morph into crochety old conservatives in real time
Ok but what will actually be different
"not hard to see how having a great time pretending to murder people in a roleplaying game leads to" etc etc
"not difficult to see" doesn't cut it considering this exact argument has flopped with a half dozen other moral panics already
This is bullshit, I was supposed to be driven to madness by a scary play, not boring math about thermodynamics
Seems like I'm seeing fewer guardian caps in the NFL this season than last. Novelty wearing off already?
Not really. The water usage canard is a statistical byproduct of the fact that most energy powering AI is hydroelectric.
It's possible, now stick with me here, for TWO things to be bad at the SAME time!! Now I know that's spooky to you but be brave, you can do this!
If you destroy all data centers (lol) then you've bailed a handful out of the bucket, while gas and coal plants continue to contribute to climate change. Convert the grid to nuclear/renewables and the problem of data center usage becomes moot as climate change is concerned, so yes, be mad at oil/gas
Energy usage per se isn't bad. There are forms of generation that are more or less bad. If the US's grid was entirely nuclear and renewables then data centers could use as much as they wanted and there would be no conceivable problem as long as generation kept pace.
Again, the art movement that challenged the idea that "intention matters" is now over a hundred years old. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Readyma...

lol do you have any idea how many art movements you're writing off with this ad-hoc criteria
This is a digital faceswap. Burke and Hare were serial killers. Get a grip.
The opening scene is the best de-aging CGI I have ever seen, even though I hate the actual idea of it. I thought it was spliced-in unused footage of Hamilton and Furlong from T2 until I saw a behind-the-scenes.
Not at all clear to me that visible plastic surgery should result in severe ostracism
What’s lost in this conversation is that language must always escape containment, so your playful little “clanker” slur is now being directed at people with bionic limbs.

Harmless fun, right? www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8AjSabH/
