I'm just curious what other characters there'll be. I saw some say that these aren't indicative of any plans of use, like Candy's poster, but idk... it's pretty unlike Nintendo to give tweaks to designs for characters to keep them in storage (see Enguarde's eyelids and Candy's mix of DK64/Paon)

Chunky is the one that is most bonkers to me because he was completely shut-out of Bananza, unlike Enguarde and Lanky. Chunky is also the only Kong, aside from Kiddy now, who hasn't ever gotten a modern design (since Swanky even had the movie). Super *super* exciting! Funky and Candy seem sure bets.

Like, I'd argue DK's tree house got the most attention from Returns onwards (with it being in different spin-offs/theme park), so that *is* the most iconic look for it now; akin to DK Island having its face back. Mine carts bearing the Retro design also makes sense to me, too! (Mole miner hats tho👀)
For sure! Like I said, I wasn't too confused or angered by it! About DK Island, it actually makes sense to me that it'd have more Retro references because those games have been the detailed versions of DK's home. Sure, there are DKC1/DK64 references, but why revert some established details, y'know?
For sure! Despite not having any personal connection to Jungle Beat, I was really happy to see it get referenced just because of what that meant (and cause that game seldom gets attention). Retro has been the main focus for a while now, so I wasn't *too* perplexed at the lighter references for them.
I wouldn't, personally, buy the DLC *just* for DK Island, but Emerald Rush, however, is really terrific! There's *a lot* of replay value and content to mine (ha) out of the mode. It's a pseudo-rougelike mode that can really test your skill and sort of rewires your brain to play Bananza differently.
I'm predictable, I know, but speaking as someone who *was* still eleated regarding all the "wankery" done in the finale... y'know, I wanted a liiitle Retro Studios love at that point, too.
So the fact that DK Island *has* multiple Retro Studios references made me smile. Truly, every era is here!🥹

Also, I'm surprised this article is so measured, given it centers around Enguarde's "return," sorta. With how much you yearned for his comeback over the years, I figured this article would be in all caps and have you cussing out Retro Studios (kidding, kidding...).
I wonder what other characters who aren't in Bananza would receive a trophy. I think the most likely one is Funky (whose absence is still a bit of a surprise to me). There's also another character who is teased in the DLC that I'd be very curious to see a 3D model of (given their DLC "cameo").
I find it extremely curious that Enguarde has a statue here. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he would be the only character thus far to receive a statue with no model in Bananza. To me, I think that demonstrates that the team knows he's "next in line" (which another DLC detail supports).
Unironically, Hyle will readily make more Yooka-Laylee/Replaylee and It's Mr. Pants episodes before he's caught *dead* making a new tribunal episode for "that game."😔💀
