This "open borders" line is *infuriating* - these people came here to study or work, because they had a uni place or a job to come to. They paid visa fees, student fees, NHS surcharge - and many of them are doing challenging and important work - staffing our care homes, for example, including Mum's.
Starmer keeps using this line, & it's bonkers.

Most importantly, it's untrue: the party that ended Free Movement, ran the "hostile environment" & made Suella Braverman Home Sec did not run "an experiment in open borders".

It's also politically mad. Voters who believe this will not vote for Starmer

The awful new shooter video seems to provide an explanation for the murder, but not an excuse or justification. The shooter lost his temper, presumably because of the shouting of the victim's partner. Why anyone would think that exculpatory is a mystery.

It was murder.

sitcom about Khamenei going to Moscow and befriending the now-ophtalmologist-again Assad called Eye To Ay'
Tbf I imagine Khameini would probably enjoy this a lot. He’s said before that his favourite hobby is reading Russian novels

I wonder whether it goes the other way - cyclists are doing it, so cars follow the norm. I see more cars skipping lights than I used to. And there’s a big chunk of cyclists - Lime and Deliveroo bikes - who have strong incentives to be reckless.

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

This latest shitshow is another reminder why Starmer needs to go - not in May but now. He is not willing or capable of playing the role of PM. He is vindicating the far-right and demoralising the left. He should be removed for being bad for the country not merely losing Labour elections

Fuck Keir Starmer's spokesman, and fuck the cowards running the Labour party.
Asked repeatedly about Donald Trump calling Sadiq Khan "disgusting" and suggesting that he was only elected because of immigrants, Keir Starmer's spokesman says only that the PM has a "strong relationship" with the President which has "yielded positive results for this country"

No. not "trans people". ANYONE. This moral panic leads inexorably to the policing of women based on their appearance deemed to be "unfeminine".

Trans people could be barred from services based on appearance
The new code of practice on access to single-sex services cannot gain legal force until it gets sign-off from ministers.

At some point, for the love of God, will someone ANYONE at long last take the council funding crisis seriously?!?

Because THIS is what will break down a society, not some poor soul escaping incredible dangers, arriving on our shores.

All PMs are flawed but I think if you have no coherent vision, no ability to make decisions quickly, no humour or charisma when addressing the public, no strong roots in your party, no talent for charming MPs and no control over your own office, then you are unlikely to be able to turn it around

Have they libelled the other De Blasio? He never claimed to be the mayor and never misled the reporter. He merely didn’t correct him. That doesn’t make him an imposter who set out to mislead.
