Dumbing down our writing means no one will ever be challenged to learn new vocabulary, and the average reading level will never improve. It’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy. I’m glad this person is refusing to do so.

Thoughts about humanity weighed heavily on my soul the other day

I strongly encourage people to trade time online for time offline. Walks are great, off the phone.
Real people, real objects, real time conversations, even if it's awkward. The opportunity for real laughs and smiles and hugs.
Learn nuance, both how to have it and see it.
Unlearn internet behavior and habits like cancel culture, unnecessary comments, and using negativity for clout. We're all humans and we have more in common than differences. Technology may have connected us but the screens divide us.
Practice patience, understanding, kindness and maybe acceptance if you can.
Be the kind of person you wish to see in the world.
Because this world is wild.
*obviously the internet and tech isn't going away. How you interpret this story will be a test of your ability to understand nuance.

I think it’s important we remember what we could do before social media, maybe even before the internet as we know it, and see if we can’t do some things without being plugged in.

Not all, of course, but there is a real world outside screens, and I need to remember that.

I love classical music, video game OSTs, and orchestral arrangements too, so I listen to concerts and VGM compilations more often because it lets my mind wander. Classical composers, Joe Hisaishi/Ghibli OSTs and the concerts for my favorite games; the Undertale 5th Anniversary concert is on repeat 😁

It depends on my mood; Aurora or mxmtoon for softer dreamy vibes, Set It Off when I wanna rock, and I have playlists for drawing my OCs and OP AU (specifically Phantom of the Opera Overture now that it’s fall). Eurobeat playlists are probably the highest energy my brain can handle while drawing lol
