Mayor Frey: “The continued presence of 2,000 federal agents in a city that only has 600 police officers is still not de-escalation…The restoration of peace…throughout our city depends on one main thing, which is for ICE to leave.”

Why should we move on from the Epstein files? The victims don't get to move on. Nothing can erase their scars. So the least we can do is make sure the perpetrators are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.

Democracy dies in oligarchy.

The chair of the first law firm that bent the knee to Trump’s extortion and agreed to do pro bono work for him is featured in the Epstein Files, you say? Huh.

Years ago, people came to our shop with MISSING posters for gay men who’d disappeared in Toronto. They said a serial killer was preying on gay men and the cops were ignoring it.
“That seems a bit over-the-top,” I said at first, to my great shame. Soon *more* men were missing and I knew I was wrong 👇🏼
If the Epstein files feel “too dark to be true,” that’s the point.
Denial is how systems like this survive.

The Epstein emails should really end the debate over whether society should have billionaires. "Do you want there to be a class of people so powerful they can fuck your kids and no one will even try to do anything" seems like an easy sell if everyone in politics wasn't trying to get on their payroll

It hasn’t gone unnoticed that all four people arrested today, including two journalists, were Black.

And now we find out the charge is “conspiracy to violate civil rights,” a statute rooted in the Ku Klux Klan Act.

Sit with that.

Pressed them nonstop like he'd unlocked cheat codes.

Now the buttons are in time-out & mom says we “can’t be trusted with technology.”

Anyone else get their privileges revoked this fast? 🐾🔘😌🐾🔘😤

Apple & Google removed ICE tracking apps in their app stores.

TikTok reportedly suppressed videos criticizing ICE & the shooting of Alex Pretti.

Meta blocked Facebook groups tracking ICE & links to a database of agents that the government wants to keep secret.

I’m too old for TikTok so I wasn’t leaping for Upscrolled, its competitor NOT owned by Trump’s pal Larry Ellison, but all I’m hearing this week is horror stories about the app being flooded with antisemitic neo-Nazi shit and now this 👇🏼
Maybe I just don’t need short-form video bits in my life 🤷🏼
I also still can’t get over that this is a platform that’s been around for at least half a year, is an Instagram clone, and still doesn’t fucking have alt text.

So it’s a platform that allows rampant hate speech, slurs, bans women for posting their bodies, and is inaccessible
Can someone explain to me what upscrolled is and what the apparent upside is to using it because there’s gotta be something I’m not getting as to why so many leftists are flocking to an app I’ve seen nothing but “pushes actual neo Nazi content onto your timeline”

Feels like Twitter with extra steps

Marvel has a series out now in which their various heroes time-travel back to 1776 and...watch. The X-Men yell at some slaveowners and...that’s it. I thought the comic was an early lock for the lowest point of this year’s “celebrations” but hooo boy, looks like I’m wrong 😬
First trailer for Darren Aranofsky's new AI animated series 'On This Day... 1776'

• Tells short narrative stories about the Revolutionary War

• Uses Gen AI tools, including tech made by Google DeepMind

• Has SAG voice actors
