There is no drawdown. There is no retreat. ICE is just redistributing their assets to better avoid accountability.
The same day DHS announced the surge would end in Minnesota, ICE activity increased in small towns
The less densely populated areas outside the Twin Cities make it harder for protesters and observers to organize.

RIP Jesse Jackson.
Here he is in 2016 riding into #NoDAPL camp at Standing Rock with great aplomb. He always did his best over many years to show up and support oppressed people in struggle.

So sad for Amber Glenn and also upset they interviewed her while she was clearly still struggling with what happened. Olympic athletes are put through so much unnecessary stress.

Alysa Liu skating to Laufey's "Promise", my favorite heartbreak song, had me crying before she got going. What a beautiful performance of absolute craft.

The concentration camps will not only be for immigrants, documented or otherwise. They already aren't.

They won't only be for brown and Black people.

The targets will keep expanding. It will not end.

The only way it will is if we stop it. Both in and out of the system. There is no other way.

Michigan is a mess as per usual
How is this even possible? Rep. Haley Stevens, who is running for #MISen, "seemed generally impressed with the staff" at an ICE detention facility, per the @michiganadvance.com.

At the same event, Rep. Hillary Scholten spoke of a man "being kept in a freezing room where he couldn’t feel his toes."

I agree, but we also have to acknowledge how many Indigenous journalists that currently exist and remain unemployed or dependent upon freelance work because of discriminatory hiring practices in newsrooms. Even when hired, Indigenous journalists have to fight to cover Indigenous beats.
Nelson Bird started his career in news in 1998 as a video journalist, producer & host of Indigenous Circle before becoming the assignment editor at CTV News Regina.

On tonight's episode of Face to Face he talks about his experience with the industry.
Cree journalist Nelson Bird says more Indigenous people should consider a career in journalism
Longtime Cree journalist Nelson Bird speaks with Face to Face about the need for more Indigenous people to get into the business.

a fucking pedophile sexually abused nearly every prospective and actual Olympian gymnast for over two decades, and the political discourse is hyper-fixated on the hypothetical unfairness of trans girls competing with cis girls
1 reason why I get so angry at anti-trans "safety in women's sports" people is NONE of them do SHIT or say ANYTHING about actual safety in womens sport. There are ongoing histories and challenges and abuses in sport, and folks are more than welcome to pay attention, and give a damn. But they don't.

MAJOR: Twin Cities Tenants joins five labor unions, together repping 25,900 members, to launch a rent strike drive, vowing to withhold rent March 1 if @governorwalz.mn.gov fails to deliver an eviction moratorium and rent relief. If launched, this would be the largest US rent strike in 100+ years.

both can be true. also, everyone should be suing for the ongoing lack of infection mitigation and accommodations that keep occurring in enforced "back to normal"
Not to be unsympathetic to students but it's faculty and staff who should be suing, not the students.
I feel so miserable about this. Nearly broke myself working 16, 18 hour days during the pandemic. We did everything we possibly could, then doubled it, tripled it. HE is still struggling to get back off the floor, years later. Now another financial punch in the face.

The pandemic also coincided with BLM protests in the US, both of which created an incredible amount of labor that was unequally distributed. Women scholars and scholars of color disproportionately shouldered that workload.

Then we were punished for it and our work dismantled. I am still furious.
