So we had this same argument on old Twitter a while ago but the basic issue isn’t that someone changes their mind (good!), it’s that reconciliation and solidarity require acknowledging the harm you caused by being wrong

Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

Yep. I'm going to keep saying this a lot because I think people's repulsion of Vance makes him miss what makes him successful:

Maybe people with such advanced cases of being an idiot shouldn't be paid for their opinions? Generally speaking, if people do their job badly for a decade or more, they aren't asked to keep doing it.
