The past few days the boys and I have driven from CA to
TX. It's been an amazing trip with stops at Monument Valley, Forrest Gump Point, Four Corners Monument, Albuquerque (Breaking Bad Tour) and then this morning the Cast Away Crossroads. So glad I could share this experience with the boys

HAVE YOU HEARD? A court has ordered the National Park Service to reinstate 1,000 park staff who were terminated on February 14.

While some offices are seeing positions restored, thanks to outreach from the public, the administration has not backed down on efforts to gut land management agencies.
1,000 park workers who were fired in DOGE cuts are reinstated
Of the 1,000 workers who heard that they would be able to return to their jobs, several included workers from the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and Channel Islands National Park.

Preserving our national parks are at risk.
Recent mass layoffs within land management agencies pose a severe threat to the Pacific Crest Trail.

The thru-hiking experience relies on fully staffed federal agencies and consistent funding, both of which are now in jeopardy.

Theodore Roosevelt once said,”There can be nothing in the world more beautiful than the Yosemite, the groves of the giant sequoias and redwoods… and our people should see to it that they are preserved for their children and their children’s children forever, with their majestic beauty all unmarred.”

Last week, the Park Service, Forest Service, and other public land agencies laid off more than 10% of their workforce.

Without adequate staff, the health of public lands will suffer. Congress must take urgent action to restore the workforce that keeps our public lands open, safe, and maintained.
Protect Public Lands and Outdoor Recreation
Public lands staffing cuts = fewer maintained trails, campground closures & longer emergency response times. These cuts will directly impact outdoor recreation this summer. Learn more & take action.

The school library was a first stop every morning to read The Sporting Green in San Francisco Chronicle. The anticipation of seeing how your team and favorite player did the night before is something I miss. Being able to read the box scores was like deciphering some secret code. Simpler times.

I heard that baseball is not quite as beautiful as it was when you're 10 and 12 years old. That it loses some of its allure. Yet, for me and my closest friends, it remains the sole thread connecting us to our youth.
