We take for granted we know our birthdays. A lot of Black folks born enslaved & even in the decades past that didn't. Like Frederick Douglass, my great grandma who died when i was in my 20s didn't know hers & chose a date. Census shows her birth as 1899 though she'd thought it was 1900.
