Completely! English is great— I still teach p/t online & today I had to call on one of my Gen Z “experts” (my kids) to explain some current slang my student & I encountered in a novel. Crazy though—it’s all changing so rapidly, she didn’t know the word-said it was a Gen Alpha thing 😅

Agreed! Though there was that one time that I had to look up a Wordle “solve”word! And I fancy myself a linguist and have taught English at the college level. Funny though— I can’t now recall what that particular word was! 🫢

There are any number of legitimate reasons to use the passive voice, including not knowing who did the action you’re describing, or the whom is more interesting/germane than the who.

Exonerating the Gestapo is not one of those legitimate reasons.
