Thoughts of a chihuahua (or two): "What the heck is that orange thing? And why are you forcing us to sit for a picture with it?" 🐾🎃
Add discontinued Cadbury Fusion and old school Neilson Four Flavours -- it could be a 5-way tie.
Even Charlie is closing in on 2x Mox
Moxie is too little (4lbs) for chewables, so it's Advantix topical for her.
Granted, most of us probably idealize certain aspects of our childhood, so what I remember as a kid probably isn't nearly as cool if I owned the home myself as an adult, but stilll... All I could do was shake my head when I saw the listing photos.
Also, be wary of topical flea+tick preventatives. They're less effective as time wears on. Learned the hard way that reapply every 30 days means just that, reapply every **30** days. She picked up the tick by simply brushing against a shrub in the yard--not walking in woods, long grass, or brush.
Welcome to the club. Moxie was exposed to lyme just about this time last year. Two weeks of doxycyclene, sent-away blood test to see how bad the infection was, then another in-house blood test 6 months later to confirm she's all clear. Watching for excess lethargy and mobility changes forever now.
My childhood home was listed and sold a few years ago. I looked at the photos and wished that I had spared myself that distress. They practically ruined the place; not through neglect, but tacky renos: Late-70s home, turned stark white with 90s-era dusty rose+teal finishes, landscaping stripped bare

Remember when social media was a useful tool for assessing damage post-disaster, instead of having to fish through fake photos made with AI garbage?

That was nice.
Black River hospital Jamaica #hurricane #melissa 🇯🇲
Dare I say that the Saffir-Simpson scale can be //part// of the description, but really there should be a formula which takes into account max wind + extent of hurricane-force wind + extent of tropical storm-force wind + precipitable moisture + storm surge potential + SST + geographic fudge factor 🤔
In my neck of the woods (Nova Scotia, Canada), both Dorian and Fiona were "only" post-tropical systems by the time they arrived. One flattened the power grid. The other set a record for all-time low pressure. Meanwhile Juan--compact cat2--made a mess on its path, but impacts weren't widespread. 🌀🤷
Many of the eastern Jamaica video feeds were in/around Kingston; so distance to New Hope was 75mo/125km give or take.
Some people wouldn't be happy unless they watched roofs peel off, walls fall down, and rushing floods carry away the debris! ~~ Amusingly, the telephone pole in the Treasure Beach video feed (near the eastern eyewall at landfall) is still standing, and became the star of the show. Much talked about.
The Melissa disaster porn crowd is insufferable: Why is it only raining? Buildings aren't damaged? It's not that bad. Boring. (vid from eastern Jamaica) // Video must be fake, using old storm footage on a loop. Why is there no live feed from inside the eye? Wind didn't shift, so not a hurricane. 📹🌀🤦

#Melissa makes landfall in southwestern Jamaica near New Hope as a powerful category 5 hurricane. For the latest updates visit hurricanes.gov
Curious to see how well it holds together after crossing Jamaica, and whether it can/will reintensify before taking a run at Cuba. It's already had a few "hold my beer" moments on approach.
On a lighter note... (pun intended)

Hey Nova Scotia Power: Notice that the power pole is still upright and lines appear to be intact quite near a landfalling category-5 hurricane. Yet, a sneeze on a calm sunny day will can knock us offline?! *hint hint*
Belly + relaxed tail = you've earned her trust already. :)
Nearest live cam I've been able to find in the vicinity of Melissa's eventual landfall: Steady roar with the clatter of things flying in the wind every few seconds @ Treasure Beach; southwestern Jamaica www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2Hf...

Keep the people of Jamaica in your thoughts today. The 9am update from NHC has the pressure down to 896mb and peak winds at 180 mph, cementing Melissa as the 5th most intense hurricane on record in the Atlantic Basin.
