We stand corrected on the matter of nougat.

Read the new issue’s letters here, with further contributions on why the city of Tacoma smells, who's responsible for splitting the Labour Party and what exactly Gramsci wrote.

In further PhD-procrastination news, I've written a letter to the editor @lrb.co.uk. Given its circulation, this might be the most-read thing I ever write. It's about an Austrian dessert and contains the word "Punschkrapferlkoalition"; who doesn't love compound nouns?

Grotesque and sickening to come back home after a busy day of teaching and being a student to read that Tory policy would mean I could not remain here.

Some positive news- and I was one of the 2,147! 🚲
The cycle lane on Leith Walk, Edinburgh, set an all time record of 2,147 cyclists on Wednesday, 13th August 2025.

Overall growth in the number of cyclists has slowed this year, likely a result of displacememnt to the new CCWEL cycle lane at York Place.
