Kratos being a colossal shithead constantly is the whole driving force behind the story, without which nothing works. Him having some consensual sex is arguably the most harmless thing he does.

been thinking about this as i'm playing God of War Sons of Sparta.
"lower stakes spin-off" seems immensely under-utilized and yet often leads to some of the best entries in a series.
A lot of stories out there obsessed with laborious worldbuilding only to immediately blow the built world up.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is such a good argument for lower stakes in genre fiction. The world isn't at risk, just the lives of an artist and the knight who protected her. Baelor's choice ends up having historic ramifications, but that choice was only human. Batman writers take note.
