@sickoscommittee.org it may be cold, smoggy, and rainy in the Apennine foothills but the U18 Bologna Warriors are once again dominating, with the Ferrara Aquille being held scoreless deep in the 3rd quarter.

“Downtrodden franchise” my brother in Christ it’s the Patriots
Drake Maye has taken a downtrodden franchise, stuck with back-to-back 4-13 seasons entering this one, and led the Patriots to eight straight wins.

Is he the front-runner to win MVP?

@sickoscommittee.org happy to report that the Warriors Bologna U18 of the Italian Football League secured a statement win at their home opener, with great coaching by the entire staff— especially O-line coach Alex Schrier, who attends the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies nearby

maybe trying to meet insane quotas by exploiting Cuban immigrants' trust in the system was a bad idea, idk
Trump saw a 22-point drop in Hispanic support. We can't just attribute it to a declne from Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans Salvadorans and Colombians, who skew more Democratic. This means even Cubans and Venezuelans are breaking.

I’d half expect the plot to fail because the State Department would instinctively publish an accusation that Spain did it
“It claims the US would have blamed Venezuela for the attack on the USS Gravely, a guided-missile destroyer, to justify aggression against it.”

This seems familiar
US accused of plotting false-flag operation to frame Venezuela
Venezuela says it has thwarted what it calls a CIA-linked plot to attack a US warship anchored in Trinidad.

I continue to think that one of the reasons this country is falling apart is the wholesale abandonment of public virtue as a broadly shared aspiration. Or even something people should be embarrassed about if they don’t have it.

Wait isn’t this almost the exact same thing condemned almost by reflex when China does it?
Last Fri., Anthropic paid $1.5B to settle a copyright case. Stewart Baker argues that this type of litigation could hinder AI innovation and looks at how President Trump could invoke the Defense Production Act to ensure the U.S. wins the AI race against China.
Anthropic’s Settlement Shows the U.S. Can’t Afford AI Copyright Lawsuits
Copyright plaintiffs are squeezing enormous sums from AI companies. That's bad for the US and great for China. It's time for President Trump to invoke the Defense Production Act and resolve the…

One of the long term things keeping me going is that if the Trump administration succeeds in authoritarian consolidation, it will create a generation of Americans with long memories, just like the junta did in Brazil.
The corruption of the US Supreme Court has arguably been the most serious single contributor to the US's transformation into autocracy
Reading an article titled "Why didn't Brazilian democracy die?" and a key part of the story is a Supreme Court that actually did its job

Dynamo, a former WWII air raid shelter that's now a huge underground bicycling hub.

For those who need to talk about the American situation right now, it’s helpful to adopt the editorial voice of a global north financial paper talking about a Latin American country
🚨BREAKING: Donald Trump announces he will issue an unconstitutional and illegal executive order purporting to ban mail-in voting and certain voting equipment for the 2026 midterm election.

Such an effort would violate the Constitution and is a major step to prevent free and fair elections.
