Yeah I took down that Rees-Mogg (you’re welcome). Retired from software industry. A human rhythm box. Always fight with parking enforcement companies (see https://parkingenforcementforum.com). Rejoiner. Mostly worried about climate collapse.

Today the news will be about the government's proposals for juries.

Please read this thread so as to be informed about the actual practical problems in the criminal justice system - problems which will not be solved by this misconceived and illiberal tinkering.
Here is a list of reasons why some of my hearings and trials this year have been delayed and kicked off into the long grass, stuck in our record court backlog. Serious allegations which will now be tried *years* after the event. 🧵👇

Very demure.
Very mindful.
Very brave.

Through his life and extraordinary talent, the immigrant and refugee child Tomáš Sträussler who became known to us all as Tom Stoppard made British theatre and this country a better place to be.

You might even argue that he helped redefine Englishness through his astonishing legacy of work.

19 year old freshman just wants to go home for Thanksgiving to see her family, she gets deported to Honduras.

Former President of Honduras who’s serving 45 years in prison for drug trafficking?

He gets a full presidential pardon.

Both are Honduran. Only one is a criminal.

The UK Sunday papers are full of articles critical of a Labour govt as it starts to fix a decade of Tory incompetence and corruption.

Best example is a ‘vox pop’ in the Independent where poor voters, disappointed with Labour’s budget, will now consider voting for the idiots who gave us Brexit.

Imagine showing a petrol engine to someone who had only known electric vehicles, and trying to convince them to switch to petrol. No-one would choose the dirty, noisy, less efficient, more expensive vehicle. This isn't 1910, hostage to gender insecurity. We can just choose the better tech.

On Truss & Kwarteng in ‘22. Allister Heath, Telegraph: “the best budget I have ever heard a British chancellor deliver". Alex Brummer, Mail: “a genuine Tory package elbowing to one side the Treasury's fiscal conservatism".
These men will now be paid actual money for their analysis of today’s budget.

DOGE has been a FLOP, now disbanded 8 months early. Greatly exaggerating their "success" Trump and Musk lied to the taxpayers, never delivering a cent back to them. The real impact: slashing research, endangering public health, removing competent public servants, & creating chaos.
DOGE Disbanded: Elon Musk’s Cost-Cutting Project Quietly Ended
Musk said the initiative would save at least $1 trillion. But its website claims to have reached only $214 billion.

Probably won’t see this in mainstream media - aka the right wing press - coz it’s against their narrative. Wind energy in Britain broke a new record last week with nearly 23GW on the grid one cold windy evening. That was 56% of all electricity on Britain’s grid.

Yet when a former Reform politician is jailed for 10.5 years for accepting Russian bribes…

One day the very people who mock and smother climate science will scream out:

“Why didn’t you warn us?”
In our Climate Report my coauthors and I say: We are hurtling toward climate chaos. The planet's vital signs are flashing red. Consequences of human-driven alterations of the climate are no longer future threats but are here now. Read report here doi.org/10.1093/bios...

After 14 years of Tory abuse and less than 2 years into grown-up government, the Labour Left and The Guardian writers have decided that the Party has failed. Unable to discuss policy behind closed doors, they have shared gossip, innuendo and disinformation with the right-wing press. Stunning.

The criticism of govt immigration talks has been so exaggerated by the British left-wing that it will likely fall by the wayside like every other attempt for a common sense solution.

They lied about jewellery seizures and attempts to appease Reform voters.

Guess who’s laughing?
