I believe one of Taylor Swift's major inspirations since at least 1989 has been the ancient Mesopotamian Goddess known as Ishtar/Inanna

Swift has used "'em" pronouns for lovers before.

"'It's cool,' that's what I tell 'em"
-Cruel Summer, which was really heavily marketed the first fall TNT was really going strong (2023)

Pleeease 🙏 my dream is for Taylor Swift to bring out all her dolls on stage and proudly show us the little sequin outfits Swift paid for 🥹

Literally my only exposure to Hetlors is second hand reports from y'all and Pinterest 😂

I haven't heard anything from them about tonight.

At the end of Anti-Hero, do we learn Taylor is playing with dolls of her selves? Is the giant Taylor wearing the Karma shirt the "real human person Taylor" and the tiny Poet (left) and Showgirl (right) are her dolls?

Im not the 1st to say it,
but Swift's really been driving home the Barbie point
Left to right: tiny Poet, tiny Showgirl, Giant Taylor Midnights mayhem with me episode where Taylor Swift announced the track Karma
The shirt has thick horizontal stripes of purple and heather blue (a kind of fabric that's both dark blue + a lighter color blue or grey)
Swift's jeans have doodles of mushrooms and flowers. The mushrooms could be a reference to Alice in wonderland, as could themes of growing and shrinking people in the Anti-Hero music video!!! Taylor Swift in front of the Lover House on The Eras Tour

The placement of Swift's snake ring is everything to me (someone who believes the snake imagery of reputation was inspired by ancient Serpent Goddesses.

Her worshippers considered snakes symbolic of female and male genetalia)

Dying over Swift's totally bare ring finger on the left hand, but Swift is wearing rings on the two fingers needed for pleasuring a kitty* 😻

*Saying this as a euphemism for a sex organ

This is how "Blood on the street" begins and ends.

The sun being out could be related to the extended metaphor of Daylight being "when things come to light"/coming out

I also took note of how "Gone" samples "Freedom" be George Michael.
Lyrics say "bad times when you were mine what more could you want? You already took all my pride" It's just that when you smoked your last cigarette
you know you won't do that again
and I stayed up all night with the pack
and now the sun's up, I'm out and that's that

I spy the pansexual flag in the music video for "All over me."

While not an exact color match, their dresses on the cover of "I quit" remind me of the Bi or Androgyne pride flags
Still from "All over me" music video. Danielle is wearing a black shirt sleeve polo shirt, a sheer black skirt, and black panties. Danielle is sitting on a floor covered in yellow, pink, and blue fabric Danielle is wearing dark blue/purple, Alana is wearing light blue, and Este is wearing magenta on the cover of "I quit"

You neeeed The Hand That Feeds by Nine Inch Nails on that playlist

The song reminds me of how performers often deconstruct the ideas of fame and Hollywood much like how people deconstruct Christianity. This is something Hayley Williams talked about recently

I've wondered the same thing! I've been like, is this the movie? Is it a courtroom drama to expose the PR/tabloid/entertainment industry?

But that would be a truly crazy thing for everyone involved to do...

What ??! What song? Just today I read how dry humor is very popular in New Zealand, with Flight of the Concords being the best known musical comedians from NZ

Yes, correct. We are the gay educator character in this play. Lol

Gaylor being in Clara Bows family tree that was hilarious.

if I had a nickel for every time lore tied to someone with last name Gaylor dropped with new TS album I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

I think Swift has made it very clear that she has a dry sense of humor.

With the exaggeration of contradictions in this era, Swift seems to be begging us to notice that she jokes & does bits OFTEN
waverlee.bsky.social
Someone who doesn't recognize dry humor might think the speaker is foolish or unfunny.
From Wikipedia: Dry humour is often confused with highbrow or egghead humour, because the humour in dry humour does not exist in the words or delivery. Instead, the listener must look for humour in the contradiction between words, delivery and context. Failure to include the context or to identify the contradiction results in the listener finding the dry humour unfunny. However, the term "deadpan" itself actually refers only to the method of delivery.

TLOAS is Taylor Swift's dryest, most deadpan album yet. Dry / deadpan humor are strongly associated with British humor, so perhaps this is why CANCELLED! uses the British spelling
dreamscapes.swifties.social
Have we had any thoughts or figured out why she uses the British spelling for cancelled?

In the clean version, Swift sings "opens my skies." Maybe the explicit version exaggerates the innuendo interpretation while the clean version provides more insight to the metaphor Swift created
waverlee.bsky.social
I think there's at least 3 layers to Wood:

1. Superstitions
2. Innuendos. Mature people are let in on a joke
3. A metaphor about Swift making things happen rather than relying on luck or others. The poets & readers are let in on a deeper story

Ask her to talk with her husband about a hall pass and then kiss her!!!!!!

All this to say, when Swift's team is working with film, someone on the team is seeing the inverse of all the film images.
waverlee.bsky.social
It seems like Swift has been into film photography in the past. When you first process film negatives, the colors are inverted.

Idk the exact method they're using to scan negatives, but the digital scans of film negatives start inverted & then are edited to be the final colors.
