No ride on tomorrow, Wednesday Jan. 21.

Due to icy conditions, our ride this week is canceled. It will be rescheduled for another future Wednesday (on our regular schedule, exact date TBD). Our next ride will be Wed Feb 4, if the weather gods oblige! Stay warm, friends!

Karen took this nice photo of the group gathering at the start (a.k.a. Wawa #1). I found it pretty inspiring that about 100 people showed up to ride bikes past Wawas and remember Andrea

Wednesdays forever! A decade ago I did an essay series called "A Year of Wednesdays" and I've been stuck on Wednesdays ever since.

Also I do like bikes, and if I lived in Philly (I was born there & sometimes wish I'd moved back), I would 100% come on a ride

"There are a lot of Wednesdays! They come around much more quickly than you'd imagine! Sometimes it feels like there are more Wednesdays than any other days!"

@leahreich.com's newsletter isn't about bikes (tho she values IRL interaction, as do we), but the quote made me LOL

I’d probably estimate 200-300! It was so cool marshaling an intersection and the stream of people on bikes just going on for what seemed like forever. 🥰

Rain and cold can’t stop Philly from celebrating the holidays on bike! 🎄🎄🎄🚴🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️
I'm an optimist, but I was still astonished how many people turned up for the Holiday Lights Ride last night. It rained for the four hours before the ride! Yet I'd guess around 200 people, maybe more, came out to roll through the illuminated streets of South Philly. Just wild.

It really was magical to see so many festive folks out on a dreary, wet night.

The looks of joy from kids in their doorways was well worth the braving the weather.

Personal aside: on the way to the ride, I dropped off the last two sets of party lights from this year's bulk order. 54 sets (108 wheels' worth!) of party lights have been delivered!
