Given the amount of power used by these data centres what guarantees will there be for Albertans to get the power needed in the rest of the economy and for residential consumers. These data centres also use a lot of water - where is this coming from given our water issues?

I am concerned about why information would be shared with private companies. What are the circumstances that would warrant that sharing? Why does a private company need such information? They can hire private detectives if they need information. No taxpayer funding for this.
The Canadian government passed legislation allowing CSIS to more easily share intelligence with private companies after it was pressed by pipeline builder TC Energy to set up regular “information-sharing” meetings with industry, CSIS and RCMP.

We need to assert our independence and given that we have spent decades taking the easy way to economic growth we now have to redirect our energy. American is a convenient market for us but turns out to have lots of hidden costs and risks.
Carney: But this decades-long process of an ever-closer economic relationship with the United States is now over. And as a consequence, many of our former strengths as a country—more particularly, our economic strengths based on close ties to America—have now become our vulnerabilities… #cdnpoli

Picture of the East Wing demolition of the White House taken on my flight out of DCA.
This is a very sad statement on the state of the American president and the American republic.
Honestly, you can’t make this shit up.
Leavitt: At this moment in time, the ballroom is really the president's main priority.
This has been going on for a long time. I never get acknowledgements or responses to any email I send to anyone in the UCP party. I get acknowledgements and responses sometimes from the NDP MLAs. There seems to be a disdain for Albertans' concerns.
Alberta really struggling with the whole democracy thingy…

This is bonkers.

MLA’s have been forbidden from speaking to their constituents? How is this in any way a representative democracy?

This sounds like populist grand standing. Easy fixes that likely will not be easy or fix the problem.
I will be reacting to this forum live on youtube tomorrow night at 8pm EST

1/ Last night at the @canadianlabour.bsky.social forum, I said what needed to be said: we need solutions as big as the crises we face.

National rent control. Price caps on groceries. Public ownership across the economy.
Canadians are not patsies and we are becoming that the more we rely on the American economy. I am prepared to make adjustments if in the end Canadians have more opportunities that are grown in Canada or are partnerships with like minded democracies.
Canada is in an unprecedented adjustment phase and so, yes, some sacrifices, short term or otherwise, may need to be made while we figure things out. I’m fine with sacrificing for my amazing country. It’s a privilege to be Canadian. 🇨🇦❤️

It seems that Smith expects the kids to be in their classrooms no matter how difficult the conditions are in the classrooms. She isn't interested in the quality of education in Alberta only that she can say that it is operating. Albertans, students, and teachers all disagree with this approach.
Smith on the upcoming legislation to remove teachers right to strike...

"We would like to see a realistic approach that addresses classroom complexity, but we've got to get kids back in the classroom"

BREAKING:

Jack Smith is requesting that Congress and the Justice Dept. let him testify in public.

In new letters to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees, Smith says he wants to testify "in open hearings" because of "the many mischaracterizations" around his investigations.
If Lithuania is going to defend itself this sounds like an event to respond to. If you threaten to respond to Russian incursions and then don't respond you essentially are saying that it's okay to do what Russia is doing. NATO is hesitating when it needs to show resolve.

EU’s Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas says the newly adopted 19th sanctions package targets Russian banks, crypto exchanges, and companies in China and India helping Moscow evade sanctions. The EU is also restricting Russian diplomats' movement to counter destabilization efforts.
Remember the n many people and countries in the West helped Hungarians to reach safety when Russia invaded? Apparently Hungarians have very short memories and a lack of humanity.
🇭🇺❌🇺🇦Situation in Hungary: "We don’t want to die for Ukraine."
I am confused. Media reports on NBC suggest that the sanctions could happen under certain circumstances (not specified) but they have not been applied as yet. However the media in the United States reports like the sanctions have been put on companies in Russia. I like accuracy in reporting.
Russia is a disgusting country and needs to be humbled by the rest of the world.
Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Zakharova says Russia will not pay reparations and tries to scare Europeans with supporting Ukraine:

"This adventure will only prolong the agony of the Kyiv regime, which has lost its legitimacy and will receive no reparations from Russia.
To read many stories of survival, death and destruction this book documents what is happening in Ukraine. This is a war happening now and not one in the 1940s. Russia has not changed.

Why is it so important to support Ukraine? These are stories of Ukrainians who have faced situations that none of us would want to experience. Russia did this and will continue until they are stopped. We all can help - donate and/or write to your national government.

Think about what these kids and first responders have gone through! Think of how you would feel if it happened to you. This is why we must help Ukraine now and until Russia is defeated.🇺🇦🇨🇦
THE WORLD MUST SEE THIS!

A Russian drone strike hit a kindergarten in Kharkiv after a massive overnight attack — one person ki//ed, seven injured. All the children have been evacuated and are now in shelters. Preliminary reports indicate that many are showing acute stress reactions.
It's the polite and courteous thing to do. I don't want people to think that I'm an ignorant slob. And if you make a mess remember to say sorry before you clean the mess up and leave the table as you found it. Right on Cheryl!
We were taught at a young age to clean up after ourselves, the cleaners/janitors have a hard enough time without adding to it.

This is part of our upbringing.

On to movie theatres, same thing, I always bring my leftovers to the trash, I don’t throw it in the floor. #Canada
