Unbearably violent images from Downtown Chicago where a classical music concert was played on the Chicago River. This is too elegant and magical to be seen.

This whole thread is SPARKING JOY.
I'm not sure what's going on, but this year's freshman class is giving me ... what was that word ... hope?

They're energized and excited, they're doing the reading and doing it well, they're asking great questions and offering smart answers too.

Is this just me or are others seeing it?

Call me old fashioned, but if you can’t pronounce the name of a drug, you should not be making policies to restrict it.

Character.

Macron, President of France, was forced to walk NYC streets after cops blocked him for Trump’s motorcade, despite him literally calling Trump asking to cross the street.

So he walked around. Went to a coffee shop, took pics with baristas and NYers. No tantrum.

Kristi Noem couldn’t get to Twitter fast enough to use the Dallas ICE shooting for political points. But local news now says it was detainees who were shot — not ICE agents. She played politics, and three human beings are dead. We need an investigation into how this happened now!

I call on media to REFUSE the framing pushed by right wing chaos agents like Cernovitch & Rufo on this act of what appears to be political violence. The Democratic former Speaker of the Minnesota House was assasinated along with/her husband. The killers was hunting Dems. www.pbs.org/newshour/pol...
Minnesota shooting suspect had a list of dozens of potential Democratic targets, prosecutors say
All of the politicians named in his writing were Democrats, including more than 45 state and federal officials in Minnesota, U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson said.

@govpritzker.illinois.gov's take on Kirk is the correct one:

"Political violence, unfortunately, has ramped up in this country ... I think there are people who are fomenting it in this country. I think the president's rhetoric often foments it."

On point. So glad Democrats are saying this.

It’s clear that the main goal of the Maxwell interview was to get her to say that she didn’t see Trump do anything wrong.

Which can only mean that there is something in the files that suggests that he did. Why else would she need to say that?

The interview is more incriminating, not less.

We can come up with:
$2MIL to turn the Rose Garden into a Fuddruckers.
$200MIL for a ballroom.
$1BIL to upgrade an airplane Quatar couldn’t sell.
$450MIL (so far) for golf trips.
$2BIL to paint a few 100 miles of border wall.

Yet kids with cancer must stop being so needy.

The 80-year recipe stoking America’s Prosperity:

1) Free-market capital investments in brilliant ideas…
2) enabled by Engineering Innovations…
3) based on Science Research in Universities…
4) funded by Grants from the US Government.

It’s time more people understood this.

To connect some dots: since at Dept of Energy there’s no DEI grants to be cancelled, they went straight for cancelling all of them. Which is to say, “DEI is a problem” is a pretext in context of science funding. And we should all be clear on that. 🧪⚛️🔭

How many times do we have to say it?

Elon Musk, his DOGE, and his billionaire friends have NO business accessing workers’ private Social Security information.
Federal judge in Baltimore temporarily limits DOGE access to Social Security data
A federal judge has imposed new restrictions on the Department of Government Efficiency’s access to Social Security systems that hold personal data on millions of Americans.

For most Mainers, April 13 probably doesn’t ring much of a bell (other than, “Uh oh, it's two days until Tax Day!”).

Turns out, 4/13 is also the anniversary of one of the greatest wins for workers’ rights in our state’s history: the end of the Skowhegan strike. (1/8)

The Founders were so committed to postal service they included it in the Constitution. So the people who claim to revere it are FOS and ahistorical wanting to privatize it.

And if they want to go with "doesn't say you can't", then they're even bigger hypocrites given how they cling to it.

Sen Van Hollen met with El Salvador's Vice President Félix Ulloa, who told him that the reason they are holding Kilmar Abrego Garcia at CECOT is because the Trump admin is paying them to do so.

They also provided no evidence that Abrego Garcia is part of MS-13 or committed any crimes.
