I've worked in health care for 20 years. My friend worked at the VA and here in Nebraska, the travel was significant. Western NE to Omaha took hours and whether it was private insurance or the VA (meaning us) paying, it wasn't cheap.

Seems to me that a standalone ER model would cost even more money. After stabilizing the patient, they would have to be transferred by ambulance or helicopter (base on trauma). The time could be hours to get to a hospital that could take care of them. Are people that clueless?
