How much for a pint tho?
Finally won a run on Balatro last week. Such a great game, and I'm so hooked.

Horrible to see there's been an accident at the junction of Colinton Road (30mph) & Meggetland.

A junction we use more than daily. And used by dozens of young sportspeople

Consultation, dither, delay, the Edinburgh council way. There's someone in an ambulance now.

Change it to 20mph immediately.

Instead of a segregated cycle path why not simply cycle round one of the most busy and dangerous roundabouts in the whole city/country.

And you want us to give up the Roseburn Path and trust you to give a viable alternative in return?
Ferry Road Path CLOSED to pedestrians and cyclists from today to 16 January for installation of a security fence at Leonardo. TTRO closure order was signed on Wednesday with the below diversion: www.edinburgh.gov.uk/downloads/fi... #EdTravCyc @spokes.org.uk @edi.bike

That’s pretty good coverage of the more rural parts of Scotland!

In combination with a bike or e-bike, you can get almost anywhere
If you cycle tour then you now have an alternative to ScotRail / Citylink / Flix for bike transport. Ember routes now go as far north as Wick & Thurso

Bikes are easy to prebook on Ember site. They don't insist on bike bag but not too muddy as bike may go in hold.

This is the key for me. All that time back, and no stress. Ideal.
My journey to the school gates: 7 minutes on the bike → 20 minutes by bus
Supermarket trip: 10 minutes on the bike → 30 minutes by bus
Across the city: 25 minutes on the bike → 60 minutes by bus

So cycling is three times faster than the bus, for me.

Our first ever game at Easter Road together. A lovely time, albeit accompanied by the important lessons in perseverance.

Scotland should be 5-0 down.

Putting a tram on a linear park & walking/cycling path won’t reduce traffic one iota.

Because “traffic” is a product of human choices, and behaves like a gas that expands to fill the available road-space volume

A tram on the road, however, would at least go some way to reduce allocation to cars
Yet another evidence review argues very strongly that simply providing alternatives to driving doesn't reduce driving

This isn't surprising, if only thanks to habit. If I unthinkingly jump in my car for every trip (as many do), new buses won't change that

Quite often I find myself thinking that Star Trek TNG's Data might actually be my favourite character in the entirety of literature. There, I said it.

Our e-cargo bike is the single best and most quality-of-life-enhancing purchase I think I've made in the past decade.

Truly revolutionised what I - someone without a driving licence, and no interest in one - can get done around the city (and outside it).
This week I wrote about the rise of the e-bike dad - this piece was originally going to run alongside the story I did in September about the bike boom in general, and we didn't have space in print, but here it is:

Never doing the seated sleeper ever again. Horrendous.
8 half pints of Tripel should be enough to see me sleep on this seat on the Sleeper, right?

Always be cycling. Nothing better to do straight off the sleeper than a quick jaunt around the city.

One year on from the awful collision on the Cowgate, cars still flow freely. Edinburgh council has delayed and delayed implementing promised restrictions. We are telling the Transport and Environment Committee to take action now!

Cowgate 1 year on - what have you done?

Join us in front of the City Chambers at 8.30am on Thursday 13 November to tell the council that it's time to take action on dangerous roads.
