One reason video games need to reject AI is the risk of losing the joy of human touch in small art details. My favorite example is the fake video games from the Toy Story level in Kingdom Hearts 3, designed by real video game artists. You can tell they had fun making these.

Every time someone says they “only” use AI for references or composition it always ends up that the product is based off that. So I dunno who folks think they are fooling, like that suddenly makes it ok to use the automated theft machine cuz you added one more step.

I feel it worth mentioning that not only is JKR super transphobic, she's essentially bought herself a place in UK politics and is causing real, measurable harm to trans people and other minorities.

It's not a case where you can separate the art from the artist.

Prototype N has officially moved engines to Godot (moving from Clickteam Fusion 2.5). The game is in the process of being rebuilt and the progress has been going smoothly so far.

I've decided to move to Godot since April due to unfortunate issues plaguing ClickTeam.

In Diddy Kong Racing DS, the message when connection is lost during Download Play is "LOST ALL CHILDREN". The cartridge is internally called a "parent" and the downloaded instances its "children". While this would make sense to the developers, it has the potential to confuse or scare players.

Update for Dungeon Gals and its release
A bit of an update. Dungeon Gals is now going to be SELF-PUBLISHED. I can't go into details, but the decision to split with the publisher was amicable, and there's no foul play at work here. It was a mutual decision that self-publishing would be best for the game. There are still plans for potential console releases in the future, but for now Dungeon Gals will be self-published and just for PC. There will also be an update to the Steam demo coming soon, so please look forward to that! However, this does place a lot more pressure on me in order to make sure Dungeon Gals is able to get the publicity and QA it needs in order to do well. Word of mouth is VERY important, and is one of the best tools we have, so please try to share my DG posts and art far and wide! It will help tremendously. Thank you so much for your patience. Tumblr user nocryptographer: I talked with someone who works in book publishing, and they mentioned they get a lot of AI slop these days. I asked how they know what's human-written, and they said that there's one thing that will reveal AI slop without error, and that's the author not knowing their own creation. A real author can talk about their story for hours. They love to elaborate every character, every twist, every detail. Because those existed in their head long before they ever made it to the paper. They were loved before they were written. AI slop wasn't. It was just vomited into existence. Someone who generates their story with AI will never bond with their story the way real writers do. That's why they may not know what to say when they're asked why did the character do this, or even remember the scene in the first place. It's something they read, not something they wrote. And to a writer, those are not the same. There's a unique bond between the creator and the creation. If your writing doesn't come of you, you'll always lack that. I keep hearing soon we won't be able to tell. And perhaps, in a superficial sense, that's true. But there is a difference. It's not em dashes or repeated words. It's whether the story was made by someone who loves it and cares about it. If the writer's eyes light up when asked why did the character do that? and they start their very own Ted Talk about that specific scene... then it's real.
