GOV. WHITMER: “.. no one is worried about building a ballroom in Washington, D.C. What they want is to make sure that they can feed their kids next week.” Most Americans are “never going to step foot in a ballroom over the course of their lifetime.”

Insane racist heir to multi-billion-dollar fortune really really likes Donald Trump
Insane racist heir to multi-billion-dollar fortune really really likes Donald Trump - Lawyers, Guns & Money
This guy is Andrew Mellon’s grandson, so you know those bootstraps were made for walking: Timothy Mellon, a reclusive billionaire and a major financial backer of President Trump, is the anonymous private donor who gave $130 million to the U.S. government to help pay troops during the shutdown, according to two people familiar with the […]

It's clear from today's AP photos that Trump has entirely demolished the East Colonnade—added to the White House by Thomas Jefferson in 1805—and restored by Theodore Roosevelt in 1902.
The East Colonnade didn't occupy the footprint of the Trump "ballroom"—its demolition was completely unnecessary.

Odds are this aggressively did not happen. But it would of course be just as unconstitutional to spend money donated to the government without a duly enacted appropriation as it is to spend tax money that way.
Trump: "By the way, a friend of mine called us the other day and he said 'I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have because of the Democrat shutdown. I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have with the military.' Today, he sent us a check for $130 million. It's gonna go the military."
The only question for Mike Johnson should be "why did you dissolve Congress?" And when he predictably lies or changes the subject, repeatedly follow up with variations of "so why aren't you doing your job?"
The Speaker's opinions on anything else matter little if Congress is artificially on leave.
