We've walked headlong and with a mostly willing populace into allowing the world to be run by the biggest bunch of arseholes imaginable. Now we get to act surprised that they're the biggest bunch of arseholes imaginable. Same as it ever was

Caught "Wake Up Dead Man" last night. Craig has settled very nicely into Benoit Blanc's well cut suits, but this one felt a bit over-wrought and self-satisfied in tone, mainly due to Brolin's over the top scenery-chewing. Still enjoyed it, but didn't love it

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Very well: because the author did his own promotion, here are 5 US Kindle copies of @williammeikle.com's THE SQUARED CIRCLE: A Victorian Time Travel Adventure (The William Meikle Chapbook Collection), which I now have but haven't read. There are many sequels it seems.

Thoroughly enjoyed Joe Hill's KING SORROW. He managed to blend fantasy and horror very nicely, despite a spate of killing off of characters I was just getting interested in... A high concept horror blockbuster that wouldn't have been too out of place in the '80s heyday of them.

In the 70s this, and Nigel Kneale's THE STONE TAPE were a big part in setting me along the path to where I am now with my writing... they lit a spark in teenage me.
Giving this a rewatch over the break. I mentioned it in a published article years back on the BBC series The Mad Death but feel it deserves much more appreciation. Some VFX might look a little dated but it's still genuinely unsettling, made all the more convincing by the 70s Scottish setting

Trump never misses an opportunity to be soulless cunt. It's a true gift.
Trump’s response to the Reiner tragedy below.

When Trump’s miserable life ends, no-one should have to apologize for anything they might post in response.

A tragedy of a man who will have earned every morsel of scorn and hatred that will be poured onto his memory.

Caught THE RUNNING MAN last night. Should have called it THE PLODDING MAN... pretty dull and insipid and really said nothing new over the Schwarzennger version despite the updated FX work. I was mostly bored.

Almost 550,000 American workers are over 80. It's one of the fastest-growing demographics in the workforce. Many were unable to save enough to retire, or had a health emergency, or had to care for adult children. Many barely get by.

For America's oldest workers, retirement isn't possible. Workers in their 80s live paycheck to paycheck, use Social Security, and dip into savings.

Best cinema going experience?

Toss up between JAWS on the big screen in its first weekend of release in a packed Odeon in Glasgow

or ALIENS in the Odeon, Leicester Square on first weekend.

Both times the audience were all up and rocking...
