Whilst we're on the subject of shocking living things, did you know police departments routinely shock human beings with tasers until they die and chalk up their deaths to a fake medical condition they call "excited delirium" that was invented by taser companies to absolve themselves of liability?

My hot take is that if does not actually matter to Palestine, or to any Indigenous population, what DNA tests show. I'm obviously not an Indigenous person but if my DNA showed I was 96% donkey and 4% tardigrade, it still wouldn't be okay to kill me and take my house.

The novel slowly slipped past 120k words... new territory for me for sure... I know I have things to trim, but I also have things to flesh out... We'll see how this ends up. Here is a cat so you will actually read this.

Watching an episode of American Pickers, which we know is scripted, but they are at the Hamilton Hotel in KY, where black entertainers through the years came to have a clean, comfortable place to stay in times when such places were rare. B. B. King, Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald. Amazing stuff.

Two of the most influential books on my writing are Skin and Kink. Not in any way that I emulated the style, but that the density of that style, the voice, did not follow any formulas, and yet, it was powerful. It gave me more confidence in my own more experimental work.

After posting to @floregonian.com that I can channel Dr. Seuss, I posted a couple of kids poems I've written, and I started going through the folder where I keep things like that. I have a couple of nearly finished story/poems in that voice that are nearly long enough to be children's books.
