On occasions, I have thoughts...

Two years we have had the baby monitor and I am only now just discovering it plays lullabies. The toddler was not impressed but I was.

If Labour cannot denounce mass deportation of permanent residents, Idi Amin style, what is the point of them?
And yes for those keeping track, 2-3 weeks ago it was the youngest who was projectile vomiting. Ugh just neverending grossness really *sighs*
As my eldest manages to projectile vomit everywhere but the fricking toilet, I find myself thinking about DINKS and their lives... #parentlife
I'm surprised that I miss using Instagram more than Twitter/X (which honestly I don't miss at all). I didn't think that I was a prolific user of Instagram but I guess I must have been.
I was initially very keen to use Bluesky as a text based alternative, but I have begun to move away from it as I have grown more frustrated with it and I guess, the content I follow.
Tracking my social media use. I have tried and failed miserably in cutting it back. However, how I use it has massively changed in the past few weeks. I use YouTube much more than I ever did in the past decade.

Voters’ anger is largely focused on asylum, and perhaps on low-skilled immigration.

The government response seems to be focused on making sure no high-skilled immigrant will ever pick the UK in future, and the ones currently here will rapidly rethink their decision.

This will not end well.
Haven’t read the report yet but this looks to me like another example of adding yet more makework to the immigration process for unclear reasons other than possibly getting mentioned in Politico Playbook.

Indeed. One of the consequences is that MPs and journalists who still consider themselves centre-right now discuss unilaterally revoking settlement rights and deporting people on a mass scale as if this a normal policy option like tax cuts or bus spending.
A lot that could be said about this but if you look on Twitter it’s noticeable that the replies and quote tweets are *overwhelmingly* telling him he shouldn’t have apologised and even attacking him for doing so. That’s the feedback loop certain users are plugged into now, and it has consequences.

Ah! Good morning, reality. And welcome. We’ve been expecting you…
Briefly took my eye off the toddler and now we are down a toothbrush as she's managed to dump hers in the toilet. Awesome #mumlife
youtube.com/shorts/S1tw6... I'm taking the time to post things that either bring me joy or are of interest. An account cleanse of sorts...He is exceptionally talented, I have no desire to eat the chocolate he sculpts. It is too beautiful 😍

Not me frantically looking for -and failing to find- allergy medicine for my oldest, then realising after 90 minutes that there's anti-histamine medicine always present with her epi pens, which are always with us. She's fine now, fortunately, but my memory apparently is not.
I can tolerate a bit of dairy free chocolate such as Nomo (a square at a time). Otherwise dark chocolate is my now acquired taste. I think I can go as high as 90 and as low as 75%. Most days a piece of 85% will hit the spot...#diabetes
Sweet treat choices are a minefield with type 2 diabetes. I am lucky enough to be tightly controlled and only now and again I like a small bit of chocolate. Sugar free chocolate makes me hideously sick.
Continuing my online spaces journey, I finally signed up for Reddit. I don't know how useful it's going to be for me. The world is already grim so I have no use for snark accounts, of which there seem to be plenty. I guess I will give it a week but I would be surprised if it sticks.
One of those rare occasions where I am up and everyone is still asleep. Using the time to look up pastry chef videos. Apparently this is self care #mumlife
I unashamedly love watching Hallmark movies. And in this cesspit of misery that is day to day life - I love them even more. I absolutely would move back to the small town and marry the single dad/long time crush/sworn enemy after a series of quirky events that bring us closer together...
Judging by how things are going, this is probably a sign to move away from text based social media. This is why we can't have nice things*sighs*
Today feels like an "avoiding every single person in existence" kind of day. Don't even bother checking the News, just not worth the misery *grumbles*
I have definitely reduced time here and Mastadon, which means less doom-scrolling overall. Lemon8 has been interesting, nothing profound or exciting but a nice way to be distracted. The UK site is still very quiet. YT shorts and YT community are now my preferred SM choices.
SM usage has gone down a bit from the previous week. This clearly is going to be a slow process and I probably need to start thinking about targets, rather than letting it happen organically. Maybe something in the mid- high 60s?
